THIS WEEK
, it's time to watch the top women golfers in the world, live and in high def, in the U.S. Women's Open. We'll bring you updated coverage daily, linking to all of the best stories, from the home page at  GottaGoGolfMag.com.

While you're watching, we've got an assignment for you: We at GottaGoGolf would like to recruit our own GottaGoGolf Goddess -- and we're looking for an up-and-coming talent who is also a lot of fun, stylish, adventurous, smart and gracious.

Do you see her anywhere? We've got ideas -- next month, we'll poll you for yours. In the meantime, watch carefully, and check out:

What we can learn from watching the pros: Here are 12 brain-training lessons you might see in action this week.

Guidance from Gail

PHIL MICKELSON'S  first tee shot of the U.S. Open disappeared, never to be seen again. But, we know it went into that tree, darnit!

The U.S. Women's Open venue is no forest -- but maybe your course is. USGA official Gail Rogers, our own Guidance expert, explains the options.

A Little Overheated, Are We?
golf bag in hot sun
So it's warm in your zip code this month? Well, you could check out our 11 cool tips for golf when it's 111 degrees outside.

Learn about sun sleeves and how they fared in our tryout.

LPGA players competing in red-hot Arkansas offer a hot-weather tip that makes sense but seems contrary to our taste buds.

But, maybe the best idea of all: You could take a vacation to the High Sierra, especially the Lake Tahoe region, where days are sunny, nights are cool, and the summer-only golf courses are kicking into gear.

Be sure to pack smart. And fortify yourself with these 5 nutritional items.

Look for all these stories and more, online in July at GottaGoGolfMag.
Pace of Play: Reality vs. Fantasy
Big Ben Last month, we asked how long it takes you to play 18 holes and how long you would like to take to play 18 holes. We've received more than 200 responses, and the results raised a few questions that GottaGoGolfers are going to have to discuss.

In the meantime, we're extended the poll for another month. So if you didn't answer yet or you want to share it with a friend (men are welcome), here's the link to the two-question pace-of-play poll.

And, yes, there is a space for comments. Here is a sample:

"Most pace of play is determined by the slowpokes in front of us."

"The men slow us up!"

"Why do people need practice swings after they're loose? Unless it's that first flop wedge over a bunker. After that, get up and hit it. This ain't the U.S. Open and we're not that good to stand over a shot for 30 seconds before pulling the trigger."

"Fast is not the objective, an enjoyable round of golf is!"

"Golf should be played at a pace that allows you to enjoy and appreciate the sport. 'Speed Golf' is not fair to the player. The typical golf course's focus is to make as much money as possible, not to encourage growth of the player. In addition, as a golf consumer, I am entitled to the full measure of my green and cart fees."

"We walk and still play 18 in 3.5 or less hours....frustrating that people assume people who walk are slower than people who cart it."

"Over 4.5 is no fun. No excuses."

A Belly Laugh with Equipment Editor Emily Kay
Woman with putter in her chest

Long putters have their fans, especially on the PGA Tour. Webb Simpson used one in winning the U.S. Open! Women, however... not so much. Emily Kay finds out why women say, "Get that belly putter outta my breadbasket."

And if you're using one, well, this story is crying out for you to post a comment below it!

Coming soon: Bubba Watson has popularized the hot pink driver, but many women are tired of the hue. Emily investigates the impact color can have on game, and finds out how the equipment companies choose the colors for women's gear.
