 | Isabelle Beisiegel: Fearless at 33
|
The USGA accepted 9,006 entries for the 2012 U.S. Open, and only one of them belongs to a woman. No, she's not Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie or some other young studdette who hits the ball 300 yards. Izzy Beisiegel, 33, believes this is yet another opportunity for her to use a special gift she has been given: Perseverance.

Your May mission: Find out how many women play your course
Golf courses don't cater to women, so it's up to us to let them know we're worthwhile. To that end, GottaGoGolf is launching a 12-step recovery program. Step 1: Stop in your pro shop this month and find out what percentage of rounds are played by women. Email us or post the answer at Facebook.

Maybe she didn't know any better, but...
Guidance Editor Gail Rogers outlines the not-so-simple choices you can make when you think your match play opponent has just broken a rule. What would you do? Would it matter if you were ahead in the match or behind? Suppose she's your best friend? Equipment Editor Emily Kay sets out to learn why the new drivers have adjustable screws in them, and just who among us should care. Read more. Boogie with Bubba Now that Bubba Watson's made the big time and won the Masters with one of the most unforgettable golf shots ever, we thought you should see his unforgettable music video. Warning: If you're opening up the Golf Boys video at your desk, put the headphones on! .

Bonus content - fun new terminology for your game These new descriptors came our way from David Wood's Golf Quote of the Day email group. He credits Jeff Burke for submitting them: You say "There's a Nancy Pelosi" when your shot goes left and out of bounds. You say "There's a Rush Limbaugh" when your shot goes right and out of bounds. You say "There's a Princess Di" when you shouldn't have used a driver. You say "There's a Princess Grace" when you should have used a driver. The putt that's impossible to read? "That's a James Joyce." And when you got away with a bad shot? "There's an O.J." If any of these seem to be in bad taste, well, be glad you didn't see the entire uncensored list!
