UPDATE ON WSJD E-NEWS

WSJD E-NEWS, a tradition initiated by our beloved Steve Brenner, President Emeritus, has been enjoyed by readers. Steve Brenner has compiled articles, humorous stories, Parshas, and stories of human interest, suggested by his readers, that kept many of us Jewishly connected for 21 years.

WSJD wants to continue to build on his work. Karen Alkoby, Susan Cohen and Harriet Loeb will join Steve Brenner in continuing the fine WSJD E-News tradition.

If you find articles of interest or have suggestions for topics you want us to cover, please email them to us. We also would like to have your feedback on the WSJD's E-News format and content to help us plan future issues.

We wish you and your loved ones a happy, healthy and sweet new year.

Best wishes,

WSJD Social Media Committee

Weekly Jewish Wisdom

Wake Up

"Sudden penitence comes about as a result of a certain spiritual flash that enters the soul."

--Rabbi Abraham Kook

This week we begin to blow the shofar every morning to signal that Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur are fast approaching. The Hebrew month of Elul ushers in a new season of preparation and self-improvement. The shofar's plaintive calls rouse us out of the sleep of summer and into the back-to-school-new-notebook-clean-slate mindset of September. Who are we? Who can we become?
