What's Up on East Blvd?

There have been lots of questions about just what is going on on East Blvd.

Here is the update from CDOT:

1) Striping: The temporary striping has been completed. There is a national shortage on the "final" striping materials but we hope to have that completed soon. There is still some tweaking that we are doing on the project:

2) Backups - When the road was resurfaced we "broke" some of the signal loop detectors at Kenilworth/Scott. This has resulted in short signal cycles and backups, especially westbound. We hope to have this fixed soon and then East Boulevard will get more green time and the traffic back-ups should be reduced.

3) Final markings - Right now there are minimal pavement markings down.  When we implement the final striping it will include better transition striping and more two-way-left-turn-lane markings in the center turn lane. This should give better visual cues to motorists so they know when to get into the left-turn lane (especially in front of the Harris Teeter).

4) Signal Timings - we will continue to monitor and tweak the signal timings for better traffic flow.  We will be able to do this when the #1 above is fixed.
