Crime Alert

In the past week, there have been numerous instances of vehicles being broken into. Locations in Dilworth and nearby include Ideal Way, Myrtle Avenue, Lynway Drive, Hemlock St., Somerset Dr., Maryland Ave., Princeton Ave., and Charlotte Drive.  

On Myrtle Avenue, multiple vehicles in a parking lot were broken into by smashing the window. Outside of that case, all vehicles entered have been left unlocked. The victims in Dilworth have lost several GPS units, iPods, IPads, cash, credit/debit cards, sunglasses, wallets, and stereo equipment.

We have also seen an increase in auto theft in the Dilworth area. These thefts coincide with vehicle break-ins and we are seeing vehicles stolen with spare keys left in the stolen vehicle, or keys for one vehicle found in a second vehicle.

Please take the time to ensure that you have not left a valet key in your vehicle. Do not keep spare keys to your car in the car itself. Lock up your vehicles and make sure that you have not left items of value inside. These thieves will return to your neighborhoods because they have been successful.
