Kitware Paper Selected for Presentation in Toronto

MICCAI 2011 Paper

We are excited to announce that our paper "Geometric Metamorphosis" was accepted for MICCAI 2011 (one of only 34 papers accepted for oral presentation out of 819 submitted) and will be presented on Wednesday, September 21st in Toronto.

Our paper proposes geometric metamorphosis formulation as an alternative to standard image registration methods, which do not account for changes in image appearance. The work is motivated by clinical challenges in predicting long-term effects of traumatic brain injuries based on time-series images. This work is a joint effort between UNC, UCLA, and Kitware. You can find the list of authors for this paper, as well as a complete description of our involvement in this conference, on our MICCAI event page.

Will you be at MICCAI? If so, we'd love to meet with you. Just send us an email (kitware@kitware.com) and we'll arrange it.

Story2VolView 3.4 Released

Now Free and Open Source!

Torso

Showing our strong commitment to open source, we have released our long-standing VolView product under a BSD license. VolView is an intuitive, interactive system for volume visualization built on top of VTK and ITK. The 3.4 release contains several new features, such as paintbrush widgets to allow users to perform manual data segmentation in 2D and 3D, and segmentation filters that allow users to generate and interact with label map overlays to  create, merge, or crop segmentations using ITK and VTK filters.

See our News site for complete details on the VolView 3.4 release. Visit the VolView download page to find binaries for Windows, Linux, and Mac as well as source code and documentation. Want to learn more about Kitware's consulting services in the area of medical imaging?  Just send us an email (kitware@kitware.com) and we'll put you in touch with one of our experts.

Story3Summer Fun

Kitware's Clifton Park Office Celebrates Summer in Saratoga

Rock Wall

Our annual summer picnic was a smashing success with beautiful weather, plenty of great food, and of course all the fun toys. With over 175 people in attendance this year (up from about 130 last year), we needed to increase the entertainment options. In addition to the rock wall, bounce house and giant inflatable slides, we added a 40' inflatable obstacle course.  Although this definitely brought out our competitive side as we raced in teams over, under, around, and through various obstacles, it was so much fun that we are sure to be looking for a bigger, meaner, more challenging course for next year's picnic.  Check out this blog post for more pictures.
