LetterGreetings!

de SotoWTTW National Productions and APT are pleased to announce the January 4, 2012 release of Globalization At The CrossroadsThis one-hour documentary complements "Power of the Poor, which many of you carried last year, continuing to provide renowned Peruvian economist and author Hernando de Soto's ideas about successful ways to empower the 80% of humanity currently excluded from current economic systems.

Recent political changes occurring across North Africa and in the Arab world are making the headlines almost daily - and drawing the attention of so many of our viewers.  Hernando de Soto theorizes a major reason these changes are occurring is that the vast majority of the world's population has been systematically locked out of a profitable economic system by Byzantine legal procedures and political repression.  However, he is confident this omission can be remedied.

Globalization At The Crossroads presents Hernando de Soto's twenty years of research concluding that only in places with widespread personal property ownership - coupled with inclusive, efficient, and transparent business and property law - do economies prosper. Traveling to Africa, Albania, Switzerland, Japan, China, the program demonstrates how property rights, the rule of law and a free market can revolutionize the lives of millions. De Soto cites the successful revolutions in legal systems and the development of the modern corporation in the West and points to other nations - such as post-WWII Japan and present day China that have instituted private property and business reforms - as countries where economies take off and their middle classes grow.

Globalization At The Crossroads is produced by Free To Choose Media.  Executive producers are Thomas Skinner and Bob Chitester. The series is presented by WTTW National Productions and is distributed by APT (Exchange). Underwritten by John Templeton Foundation, local underwriting is permissible.
