Letter1

Greetings!

We are excited to bring you a second season of 13 brand new, fun and innovative children's cooking television programs, Hey Kids, Let's Cook! 200s.

Hey Kids, Let's Cook! 201-213
is an award-winning kids cooking show based on nutrition that was created just for kids and teens (as well as their parents of course!). The entertaining series featuring a diverse group of children aged 6-14 helps young people develop cooking skills, while demonstrating how to make easy, irresistible, delicious recipes--all the while keeping safety in mind. Kids love the engaging format, including the field trips, 3-D animation, and meeting fun new characters: Animated "Myplate", Farrah on Manners, and Emma. Parents and educators love the nutrition education, living skills, kitchen safety and core-curriculum integrated into each episode. Hey Kids, Let's Cook! 201-213 was created just for "chewers just like you!" We hope you'll take a look at the DVD that's on its way--OR that you'll email me for a link that will be available soon where you can watch a program on line.

Hey Kids, Let's Cook! 201-213 is the creation of series host and program developer Kathy Powers, who has been teaching nutrition to young folks in the Fresno CA Unified School District for over 20 years. An award winning educator, Kathy earned her B.S. in Home Economics and Teaching Credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo CA. She earned her M.A. in Reading and Language Arts and Reading Specialist Credential from California State University, Fresno CA. In 2003. Kathy was named Middle School Educator of the Year out of 18 Middle Schools.

Kathy has a passion for teaching kids how to cook healthy, nutritious, mouth-watering recipes. Her fun, energetic approach to the subject as well as her tremendous teaching experience has personally helped over 8,000 children to learn to love cooking. By bringing her teaching program to television, Kathy can offer many more children the opportunity to successfully cook for themselves, receive valuable instruction on nutrition, and keep them coming back for more!

Here are program descriptions for Hey Kids, Let's Cook! 201-213:

201. FRENCH CREPES

We're always teaching you recipes from other cultures, and today we're going to show you how to make a breakfast that the French just love - French crepes. They're very thin pancakes and we are going to roll them up and serve them with different fillings. Crepes are great for breakfast. They can also be served as hors d'oeurvres stuffed with cheese or seafood, or served as a fancy dessert like "Crepe Suzette". They're fun and easy to make at home!

202. PEANUT BUTTER APPLE PUFFS

We're going to take an all time kid favorite food combination of fresh apples and peanut butter, and bake those right inside a biscuit, these are called Peanut Butter Apple Puffs. Sound unusual? You will love them! And we'll serve them up with a yummy cider drink and a smoothie........a purple cow!

203. PERSONAL PIZZAS

This recipe is every kid's favorite and a personal favorite of mine, so we call it Personal Pizzas. These are going to be "made to order", or "just the way you like it", with a blend of cheeses, gooey mozzarella cheese and an endless list of creative toppings like olives, grilled vegetables, and pepperoni. And you know pizza restaurants from all over America give a unique name to their own specialty pizzas on the menu. What are you going to name your personal pizza?

204. MINI MEATBALLS AND PASTA

A favorite saying at Italian dinner tables - Moms would say: "Mangia e statti zitto", meaning "Eat and be quiet".   So with that said, we're making Italian today.... Mini- meatballs and pasta. Some kids just never grow out of a liking for tasty pasta with meatballs.......they eat it all through adulthood........it's pasta, a tomato pasta sauce, with tender mini-meatballs in every bite. Definitely a kid favorite....................how about yours?

205. GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES

Today we're making the ultimate rainy day comfort food: a grilled cheese sandwich. These sandwiches are the most sought after sandwiches in America and have been around for so long that the whole month of April is considered National Grilled Cheese Sandwich Month. Can you believe it? Yes, a month long celebration for grilled-to-perfection toasty bread with a melted, gooey cheesy center.

206. SINI KUFTA

Today we're traveling around the world to show a Middle Eastern or Armenian favorite....Sini Kufta. Kufta are yummy and creative little meatballs, and very easy to assemble, when you make them in a tray or casserole like we're doing today, they're called Sini Kufta. The Middle Eastern culture fills their tables with healthy food, and Sini Kufta is a favorite of kids too. We are going to serve our Sini Kufta up today with Jajik, a cool yogurt and cucumber salad.

207. TAILGATE GOURMET

Are you ready for some high-powered foods that will get you around the track to that final lap? We're cooking up some hot recipes at NASCAR today right on the edge of turn 11, the most exciting turn at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California. We're taking the show on the road today, literally. We're preparing an exciting tailgate menu of sliders and fixins, spicy corn salad, and fruit kabobs. Don't miss the fun as we watch the track get "smoking" hot and see Santino race around the track.

208. AFTERSCHOOL SNACKS

When the 3:00p.m. bell rings, you bolt from the classroom, and get home with a ton of homework slung over your back. You know it has to be done right away, but the first thing that comes to your mind is? Snack time! Today we're going to show you how to make four fast, delicious, and nutritious snacks that will be sure to hold you over until dinner is ready. The key to these snacks is that they are super easy to make, because when you're hungry you want it right now!

209. A TRADITIONAL GERMAN DINNER

Join us for another trip around the globe. This time to Germany, as we host Chef Klaus Tenbergin. Chef Klaus teaches us how to cook one of his favorite German meals: Himmel un Erde, (which means of heaven and earth) and a very popular mashed potatoes and apple dish. Himmel un Erde is often an accompaniment to pork dishes. So we serve it up with breaded pork chops and cabbage.

210. BAKED POTATO BAR
Whether you serve them up mashed, stir them into casseroles and soups, or simply chop them up to make French fries, potatoes are absolutely delicious. You may know potatoes as just a side dish or accompaniment to a meal, but today we're going to serve these potatoes as the main dish? We're making them the center attraction!   We're creating a Baked Potato Bar. When these are hot out of the oven, we'll serve them up with a variety of fresh toppings that will create a perfect meal.

211. BREAKFAST FOR MOM

Whether it's Mother's Day, your mom's birthday, or just simply just because she's special, you should set your alarm, ask your dad to meet you in the kitchen at 6:00 a.m., and go for it! Make your mom that special breakfast and take it to her before she gets up! And today we're going to learn how to make scones, a delicious bread brought to us from the English and Scottish. And we'll serve it up with an omelet, fresh fruit, and hot tea! Sound great?

212. KAILA'S SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTY

It's Kaila's birthday, and I have invited her over later today for a little surprise Birthday party. There's nothing more fun than to surprise someone with a Birthday party! We've got the presents and the balloons! And together we're going to make  mini-cupcakes and frozen yogurt. Join us for the party and help the cast of Hey Kids, Let's Cook! wish Kaila a Happy Birthday!

213. PEPPERONI PIZZA SOUP

And today we're going to take another spin on one of the most popular kid foods, we're going to show you how to make Pepperoni Pizza Soup. Yes, I did say soup. All the yummy, irresistible flavors of pizza you can also drop in a stock pot and stir together for the same taste. And we're going to make some breadsticks to dip right into the soup. So easy to make, they're called "Easy Cheesy Breadsticks".
