A note from Patti Ries, Mill City Commons
Program Coordinator
Did You Know?
According to author, Carol Sherburne, spirituality has a positive effect on the physical and emotional components of aging. In her article, "Spirituality: The Beauty Secret of Aging" in the 2008 LLI Review, Sherburne states that spirituality is linked with longevity and mental acuity and that many people find a sense of meaning, purpose, gratitude and joy through their spiritual lives. Spirituality may help people to cope with life challenges and may bring a sense of peace, comfort, and clarity. As we experience later life developmental change, spirituality may gain importance and bring great beauty to our lives.
