Executive Director Update --
The Program Committee has developed a plethora of interesting activities for next month. You'll find the May calendar under "Upcoming MCC Events" near the bottom of this newsletter.
Many members have asked about MCC Member Sage Cowles and the memorial and celebration scheduled for John in May. Here's a note from the family:
Dear Family and Friends,
Warm greetings to all of you, and deepest thanks for your messages and flowers.
Sage has returned home, having completed the inpatient physical therapy program three days early (no surprise!). She is making steady and confident recovery from her hip replacement, and her children are providing regular company and assistance during all of these transitions. Sage is focusing on regaining her physical strength and mobility, and gradually adding more activity to her days. Both the Loft and the Farm are supportive retreats for her, and the energy of our early Spring is compelling.
For your planning purposes, we have agreed to the following basic outline for the May program:
Friday, May 18: Memorial and celebration at the Guthrie Theater, starting at 2:00. Reception immediately following, also at the Guthrie. Feel free to pass the word to others.
We look forward to seeing you soon, even as we appreciate that not everyone may be able to join us.
We send love and warm wishes to all in the meantime,
Sage, Tessa, Jay, Jane, and Fuller
-- Linnea

A note from Patti Ries, Mill City Commons
Program Coordinator
Did You Know?
"Celebrating People in Action" is the theme for this year's National Volunteer Week,
April 15-21, 2012.
Thank you for being "People in Action" in all you do to help fellow Mill City Commons members, along with the many things you do for the broader community!
There are many reasons to celebrate being "People in Action". A 2007 report from the Corporation for National & Community Service correlates volunteerism with improved physical and mental health and reports that volunteers enjoy greater longevity, higher functional ability, lower rates of depression and less incidence of heart disease. Thank you for all you do!
