Executive Director Update

Marcia and I spoke to an audience of 150 at the American Association of University Women (AAUW) yesterday about Mill City Commons and the Village Movement. They learned how Mill City Commons is building community and providing connections to the resources that support the aging-in-place trend. And we shared a few quotes and member stories. A handout with examples of our programming and a few member quotes and short stories was distributed to reinforce the message. Special thanks to MCC Member Patty Canney for sharing her graphic design talents with us! We would love for you to share this PDF with your friends. To download a copy, click hereWe appreciate our members getting the word out about Mill City Commons and helping us grow. Thank you!

Guthrie Play Reading: Hay Fever

Tuesday, March 20, 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm;  The Guthrie 8th Floor Learning Center, 818 South Second St.

Packed with wit, precision, and sheer outrageousness, Noėl Coward's Hay Fever centers on the eccentric Bliss family: Judith, a recently retired actress; David, a novelist; and Sorel and Simon, their two oddball children. When each member invites a guest to their country estate without the others realizing Hay Feverit, it is the guests who pay the price. Don't miss Coward's delightfully infectious comedy of bad manners about a weekend getaway gone awry. A Guthrie dramaturg provides scripts and assigns parts.

Olivarez's exhibition, "Craft and the Hand: From Visible to Integral," opened at the MIA in November 2011 and will be on display through April 2013. It explores the continuing significance and role of the hand in the ever-changing field of contemporary craft. The exhibition also looks at how the meaning of the word "craft" has evolved as many artists move towards more conceptual interpretation.
