Technology Workshop: Lion, iOS5 and iCloud

Monday, November 7, 7:00 - 9:00 pm;  MCC Office, 17 Fourth Street SE

Andy Trawick will introduce us to Apple's latest innovations including iOS5 and iCloud. Learn how these new technologies can simplify your life. This is not an Apple only discussion as iCloud is available to Windows Vista and Windows 7 users. Andy will also discuss the Mac OS X Lion that came out this past summer. This workshop will include a lecture and hands on time -- bring your iPad, iPhone, or other device.

Weisman Art Museum Tour

Tuesday, November 8, 11:00am - 12:00 pm;  Weisman Art Museum, 333 East River Road Weisman Art Museum

The museum recently reopened after an extensive renovation and expansion designed by its original architect, Frank Gehry.  The museum's collection features early twentieth-century American artist, such as Georgia O'Keeffe and Marsden Hartley, as well as a diverse selection of ceramics and contemporary art.  Learn about the renovation and visit several of the newest exhibit spaces.

Latin Film Festival: Brazilian film 'Music According to Tom Jobin

Sunday, November 13, 3:30pm matinee;  St. Anthony Main Theatre, 115 Main Street SE  

CompoMSP Latin Film Festivalser/performer Antonio Carlos "Tom" Jobim introduced Brazil and bossa nova to the world with "The Girl from Ipanema." He went on to write literally dozens of classic songs recorded by the international royalty of pop music. Legendary Brazilian director Nelson Pereira dos Santos has now created this loving, tuneful tribute to Jobim, featuring  extraordinary renditions of Jobim standards by artists ranging from Judy Garland, Dizzy Gillespie, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald to Caetano Veloso, Gal Costa, Chico Buarque and Lisa Ono.

Latin Film Festival...presented by The Film Society of Minneapolis and St. Paul

Walker Art Center Exhibition: Graphic Design: Now in Production

This major international exhibition explores how graphic design has broadened its reach dramatically over the past decade, expanding from a specialized profession to a widely deployed tool. Graphic Design: Now in Production is the largest museum exhibition on the subject since the Walker's seminal 1989 exhibition Graphic Design in America: A Visual Language History, and the Cooper-Hewitt's 1996 comprehensive survey,Mixing Messages: Graphic Design in Contemporary Culture.
