The Cowles Center Backstage Pass
Wednesday, August 24, 5:30 - 7:00 pm; The Cowles Center, 528 Hennepin Ave 
The original Shubert Theater has been renovated to a stunning 500 seat theater. This is Minnesota's new home for dance! Join members and friends on stage for a cocktail hour and heavy appetizers catered by Crave Restaurant. Enjoy a dance demonstration and a rare backstage tour of the new Goodale Theater. Price is $30 per person. Reservations close at 6:00 pm today.

Nosy Neighbor Tour: Upper St. Anthony Lock & Dam Tour
Tuesday, September 6, 2:00 - 3:00 pm; Upper St. Anthony Falls Visitor Center, 1 Portland Avenue
The Visitor Center, which sits atop the lock and dam central control station, offers a fantastic view of the falls and the lock itself. From there we'll take a 30 - 45 minute walking tour and learn about the history of Upper St. Anthony Falls, navigation on the Mississippi and the operation of the lock structure.

Get all those nagging technology questions answered and find out how to make the most of your technology at our complimentary helpdesk, staffed by MCC's tech guru, Andy Trawick! Andy knows MAC, Windows, and Linux and can deal with whatever issues you may have in your digital life. Linnea will confirm the time of your 20-30 minute one-to-one session with Andy.

"Gather" at the Walker

The new hot spot on Thursday nights is at the Walker. Gather by D'Amico is one of Minneapolis-St. Pauls finest restaurant venues, overlooking the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden and Loring Park with sweeping views of Minneapolis. In conjunction with the Walker's Free Thursdays, Gather serves small plates by guest chefs and cocktails at happy hour prices. Come for the art and stay for the fun!

Restoring hope to torture victims ... The Center for Victims of Torture in St. Paul, MN
An estimated 40,000 torture survivors live in Minnesota. MCC Member John Cairns and the CVT invite you to learn more about how hope is restored to thousands of torture survivors throughout the world, and to hear some of their stories. Join them on Tuesday, August 23, 5:30-6:30pm at Mill City Clinic, 901 S. 2nd Street for this unique opportunity. RSVP to rhughes@cvt.org or 612-436-4859 by Monday, Aug 22.
Book Launch Event of 'True North Groups: A Powerful Path to Personal and Leadership Development', by Doug Baker and Bill George
MCC Member Doug Baker, would like to invite other MCC members and their guests, to the upcoming book launch event where he and Bill George will introduce their new book. It will be held at the McNamara Alumni Center, University of Minnesota, on Thursday September 1. The event begins at 6:30 pm with a book signing afterward.
Harvest Moon Benefit Dinner by the Riverfront Annual fundraising event for the Mill City Farmers Market, September 11, 4:30-7:30 pm MCC Member Mary Racciatti would like you to know about this celebration of healthy foods and local farmers, to be held in the Mississippi riverfront between the Guthrie Theater and the Mill City Museum. The festive September 11th Harvest Moon Dinner, will include a reception, taste tantalizing dinner orchestrated by Market Chefs Nick Schneider and Heather Hartman, followed by a live auction and delightful dessert. Mill City Times MCC Members Kim Eslinger and Dave Tinjum have created a metro website devoted specifically to our neighborhood. It's a place to go to find out what's happening ... whether it's a new restaurant opening, a local event, proposed new construction, etc.
