President's Message
Three major initiatives are being taken by the Brazil Canada Chamber of Commerce for this month and the next. The first one is the Seminar on SUSTAINABILITY to be held next Tuesday, May 24th, at the Ontario Investment and Trade Center. The Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce - BCCC, the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and the Innovolve Group are hosting this Breakfast Seminar, engaging a diverse panel of leaders in order to explore trends and opportunities for sustainable business practices, technologies and cross-border partnerships in Brazil and Canada. This event will provide an opportunity for companies to gain exposure for their projects and services, network and gather market knowledge on breaking issues in the region. Also, we would like to inform all our members and readers that during the next two months the BCCC is developing a new website to improve networking opportunities and to reinforce bilateral trade and investments between Canada and Brazil. Therefore, we are searching for content, such as studies, surveys, reports, interviews and documents that could enrich the website. If you could help us by sending any material that you think might be interesting, that would be very helpful. The third initiative is a Seminar to be held in Montreal, organized by our Chapter there, with the support of the Quebec's Province Government, where business opportunities in Brazil will be discussed. The main speaker will be Ms. Abina Dann, Canadian Consul-General in São Paulo, Brazil. All three initiatives are looking to enhance the knowledge about Canadian-Brazilian joint opportunities and we count with your support for all three.
Sincerely, Raul Papaleo President |

Dear BCCC Members,
For the fourth consecutive year the Brazilian Trade Commission (SECOM) in Toronto coordinated and organized the "Brazil Pavilion" at SIAL - Salon International de l'Alimentation, Boissons, Vins et Spiritueux or The North American Food Marketplace, which took place in the Metro Convention Center from May 11th to 13th 2011. The eighth edition of SIAL Canada took place in Toronto and showcased 700 companies, (a 35% increase from the previous year) with 40 international pavilions, including that of Brazil.
The event was visited by more than 13 million professionals from the agro-business sector (51% supermarket and retailers; 28% hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars; 5% government, associations and institutions; 15% consulting and other services).
The "Brazil Pavilion" held a privileged position, located at the very entrance of the fair. It held 19 booths representing 36 Brazilian companies and 4 institutional associations. The products displayed included: wine, cachaça (Brazilian distilled spirit), poultry, pão de Queijo (Forno de Minas), coffee, chocolates, organic products, honey, dry fruits and jam, grape juice, among others. The Brazilian participation was distinguished for the quality and the diversity of the products. We would like to thank and congratulate the SECOM and the Consulate General of Brazil in Toronto for an impeccable organization, an outstanding showcase of Brazil, and for inviting the BCCC to participate in such a excellent event that successfully exposed what Brazil is capable of presenting to Canadian companies and to the world.
Sincerely,
Fabiana Silva
