South Florida fuel average details: 

Miami: Regular unleaded remained at $3.70 a gallon, up from $2.70 a year ago.
Fort Lauderdale: A gallon of regular unleaded gasoline remained $3.68, up from $2.68 a year ago.
West Palm Beach/Boca Raton: Regular unleaded averaged $3.70 a gallon, unchanged from the previous week, but up from $2.73 a year ago.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline in Florida remained at $3.57 on Monday, while the national average rose 4 cents to $3.61.

TIGER WOODS BRINGS HIS BUSINESS OPERATION TO PALM BEACH COUNTY

I think it would be safe to say that Palm Beach is the official Golf Capital after Tiger Woods moves his ETW Corp. operations to Jupiter. The office that is located on at 501 N. A1A., just north of Indiantown Road was previously occupied by Greg Norman's business, and Nicklaus' and Player's offices are also just around the corner. Read more here.

 

FLORIDA MAINTAINS IT'S AAA CREDIT RATING
Despite the recession, Florida still maintains it's AAA credit rating from Standard & Poor's. According to S&P, the outlook of Florida improved because the new state budget pays attention to what the state spends and what it collects. Florida is one of the 13 states to maintain AAA rating. BOYNTON BEACH WALLMART PLANS TO HIRE 200 WORKERS

The new Walmart store at Boyton Beach is hiring supervisors, managers, cashiers, floor associates and others. The store has opened a temporary hiring center with a plan to hire about 200 new employees to the Boyton Beach store. More here.  

 

COMPENSATION COST UP BY 1.4 PERCENT IN MIAMI METROPOLITAN AREA

Total compensation costs for private industry workers increased 1.4 percent in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-Pompano Beach, Fla. metropolitan area for the year ended June 2011. One year ago, Miami experienced an annual gain of 0.7 percent in compensation costs. Locally, wages and salaries, the largest component of compensation costs, increased at a 1.2-percent pace for the 12-month period ended June 2011. Nationwide, total compensation costs rose 2.3 percent and wages and salaries, 1.7 percent over the same period. Read more here.

News from Finland


EURO CRISIS  

Finland's cash collateral deal with Greece is off and euro-zone talks are focused on finding alternative collateral that would be suitable to all euro-zone countries, the Finnish finance minister's special advisor, Matti Hirvola, said Friday.  

"There seems to be a lot of resistance against the Finnish-Greek cash collateral deal, so now we have to try and find a collateral solution suitable for all euro countries," Hirvola told Dow Jones Newswires. "Collateral is of course a precondition for Finland in order to be involved in the Greece bailout."   Read more here. 

 

GROUNDBREAKING INVENTION BY FINNISH RESEARCHERS 

Marko Kumala, professor at the Academy of Finland, made a statement on Wednesday according to which equipment designed by Finnish researchers has for the first time made it possible to measure the smallest atmospheric particles immediately after they have formed.

According to Kulmala, this is a major step forwards for atmospheric research.

The new equipment has been tested at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) for the Cosmics Leaving Outdoor Droplets (CLOUD) project. (Source STT) 

 

MORE GAMES COMING FROM FINLAND

If you are tired of Angry Bird, no worries, there will be more games coming from Finland to your iOS gadgets. A new gaming start-up has recently appeared on the Finnish start-up scene. Tuokio is based in Tampere and their core business are mobile games for everyday gatherings.  Founded in spring 2010, they released three games so far and are developing another game at the moment. Their games so far include King of Opera, Raiding Company and Blond vs Brunette Racing.
