The FACC-FL has launched a brand new and upgraded website.  Take a moment to familiarize yourself with this new site. The address remains the same www.facc-fl.com.  

 

We've included a couple of new features to serve our members better.

Some of the new features include;

  • Existing members can renew their membership online using PayPal
  • New members can pay the membership fee online. 
  • Online event registration and payment 
  • Newsletter, newsletter archive and links to social media all on one website

Despite these updates, the chamber will continue to accept traditional payments.

YOU CREATE JOBS, WE GIVE YOU DISCOUNT,says FPL 

New and expanding business customers of Florida Power & Light Co. can save up to 20 percent on their electric bill.

 

Companies can cut their power bill by 20 percent in the first year, 15 percent in the second, 10 percent in the third and 5 percent in the fourth under a new rate structure approved by the state Public Service Commission on July 26. More about the program here. 

 

 PALM BEACH COUNTY GETTING READY FOR THE PANAMA CANAL ENLARGEMENT in 2014 

The Port of Palm Beach and Florida Crystals Corp., West Palm Beach, said that they have agreed to collaborate on the development, construction and operation of a proposed South Florida Intermodal Logistics Center in Palm Beach County. More about the story here. 

 

GRANTS TO BRAZIL TRADE SHOW 

Enterprise Florida is offering small companies $700 grants that cut the cost of participating in a trade show to Brazil.

A trade expo and gold key package for the Team Florida Business Expo & Trade Mission Oct. 23-27 normally costs $1,200, but companies with fewer than 500 employees may be eligible to pay only $500. It includes one-to-one appointments with pre-qualified Brazilian companies interested in doing business with Florida companies.

The program is aimed at manufacturers and priority will be given to those companies involved in aviation and aerospace, clean energy, homeland security and defense, information technology, life sciences and professional services.

ONE OF THE LARGEST SOLAR FARMS TO LAKE COUNTY 

BlueChip Energy received approval for rezoning of the 201 acres of land it purchased for the development of a 40 megawatt solar farm in Lake County. The facility will be largest privately owned solar farm in the State of Florida and one of the largest in the United States.

 

The solar farm is expected to produce 64 million kilowatt hours per year - power for approximately 8,000 typical Florida homes. More here.  

 

 

NEWS FROM FINLAND

 


TURKU GETS A VISIT FROM USS CARR 

 Turku, the 2011 culture capital, received a visit from the guided-missile frigate USS Carr. Carr visits Turku following an eight-day transit from St. Petersburg, Russia to strengthen the U.S.-Russia bond. Carr will hold a press conference pier side and co-host a reception for members of the Finnish navy and senior government official from Turku, as well as a military-to-military sporting event with Finnish navy.

ZOKEM HAS BEEN ACQUIRED BY ABITRON FOR $11.7M IN CASH 

 Zokem, a Finnish mobile analytics company was acquired by Arbitron, an an international media and marketing research firm, for $11.7M in cash. Zokem provides custom and syndicated mobile research panels, mobile media measurement tools and software building blocks for mobile device tracking. . Zokem will operate as Arbitron Mobile, led by founder and CEO Hannu Verkasalo. More here.
