it is good to read some positive numbers for a change. The unemployment rate went from 12.3% to 11.5%. and Palm Beach County gained 4,522 jobs in December.
Also consumer spending was up 0.7% making December the sixth consecutive month with increase. For the whole 2010 consumers boosted spending 3.5% being the best performance since 2007.
Even that Florida still has higher than national unemployment rate this job gain is a good sign that the business is slowly picking up.

In this number we are starting a new series of introducing new and renewing members to the community. The month of January brought us two new members.

1. Corporate Member - Absolute Insurance
2. Non-profit Member - Finnish American Rest Home

How to be HOT

when the temperature outside is below freezing

The secrete is to be innovative! Last year the Harvard Business Review rated Finland as the 2nd Innovation Hot Spot in the World.
According to Technopolis Online, there is a cluster of 813 high-tech companies in Helsinki. These include 67 cleantech companies, 175 mobile companies, 359 software companies, 16 nanotechnology companies and 100 life sciences companies.

Every year, the Tekes Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation grants more than €500 million ($663 million) towards innovative projects for 'new know-how', R&D and innovation. The mobile sector is especially buoyant. According to Technopolis Online, the average revenue per employee working in mobile in Helsinki is a staggering €123,747 ($164,255).
