Mayor of Lappeenranta, Finland Seppo Miettinen's visit was very well received by the local community. During his short visit he met many of the local decision makers, business people and even some folks from Lappeenranta.

RAIL Helsinki - St. Petersburg Ever thought about using Finland as your gateway to Russia or the Baltic states? Helsinki is frequently used as the gateway city to the east. On December 12th, 2010 St. Petersburg is closer to Helsinki than ever. With the newest rail fleet Allegro, the Finnish rail will take you to St. Petersburg in only 3,5 hours, which is 2 hours faster than present service. More about the prices and schedules here. Also in a few years you can take the train from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to downtown Helsinki. The city is estimating that the new Ringrail, will be ready in 2014 and will take passengers to downtown in 30min. Currently the airport is serviced by bus and taxes only.
