Call for Fall 2012 Breakout Trip Proposals Application Due: Thursday, April 26
The Breakout program gives Princeton students the opportunity to learn about and take action to address important issues of public concern. The 6 trips offered every fall and spring are proposed and planned by students who lead a diverse group of their peers in engaging topics such as immigration, human rights, social entrepreneurship, poverty, education, incarceration, food access and sustainability, community-based arts, and health care.

MIMA Music Workshop
Saturday, April 7, Princeton campus
MIMA Music, Inc., a US-based educational nonprofit founded by Christoph Geiseler '04, uses music improvisation to engage and enrich underserved communities throughout the world, through volunteers and staff who teach methods of creative musical expression to at-risk youth. Princeton workshop participants will experience inspiration, transformation, creation and celebration with song-writing, film and media training led by MIMA teachers. An interdisciplinary symposium led by WWS professor Stanley Katz and Religion professor, Scott Burnham is also included in the day's program.

Volunteer Tour Guides Needed, University Medical Center
April 9 - 22
Princeton HealthCare System, in preparation for the Medical Center's impending move, is looking for Princeton student volunteers to assist with tours for employees, physicians and volunteers at its new facility. As a Tour Ambassador, volunteers will guide participants to ensure a positive experience. Volunteers are needed for 2-hours shifts on weekdays, 7:00 am - 11:00 pm and weekends, 7:00 am - 5:00 pm on weekends.

Community Action is a student-led pre-orientation program for the freshman class sponsored by the Pace Center for Civic Engagement. The program involves a week of volunteer service based on a community immersion experience that allows participants and leaders to live in or near their community service work area. CA is now accepting leaders for CA 2012.

Leading from Within: Educating Girls and Empowering Communities

The Kakenya Center for Excellence (KCE) is a non-profit organization focused on serving the most vulnerable and underprivileged girls in Kenya. Founded by Dr. Kakenya Ntaiya in 2008, the organization has built the first primary school for girls in Enoosaen, Kenya that focuses on academic excellence, female empowerment, leadership, and community development. Hear Dr. Ntaiya, along with Ellyn Ito, director of Seeds to Sew International, tell their story of making a "dream" a reality for these young women.

Class of 1961 Foundation Seeking Community Service Project Proposals
Proposal deadline: Rolling
The Class of 1961 Foundation seeks proposals from undergraduates and faculty who are interested in implementing a community service project, in the fields of education, health, or the environment, in the U.S. or outside the U.S. Proposals must meet the Class' goal of "...making a meaningful contribution to the people and habitat of the country and the world in a manner that reinforces the value of the Princeton experience." Class of 1961 members are a fundamental component of a project but are not required in developing and submitting a proposal. (Identification and selection of '61 involvement will be the responsibility of the Foundation.)
