Winter Storms?  No problem!  We've got you covered! 

Do you want the bad news or the good news?  Well, let's just start with the bad...

The Bad News: between 1991 and 2010, damage from wind, hail, floods, and winter storms accounted for more than $40 billion in property damage and losses.  That's almost four times the amount of loss caused by fires.*

The Good News: you can minimize damage and maximize your coverage to insure your family stays content this winter!

What you can do at home:

• Make sure you have a preparedness plan set so your family knows what to do.  Also, create a winter preparedness kit that includes a contact and emergency phone numbers list, flashlights and extra batteries, a battery-powered AM/FM radio, non-perishable food and water, extra medications, first-aid supplies, warm clothing and sleeping bags. 
• Winter-proof your car and carry emergency road supplies.
• Check your attic and make sure it is staying cool and is well-ventilated.  If you haven't checked the floor insulation yet, now's the time. 
• Double-check your circuits to make sure they are not overloaded.
• And it's not a bad idea to have a professional inspect your home for ventilation, water, and power issues that you may not be aware of.

How you can maximize your coverage:

First, know what's covered on your insurance policy.  If you are unsure, unclear, or have misplaced a copy of your policy, call CSIA right away for a review.

Second, double-check to make sure you are fully covered.  Nearly two-thirds of homes in the United States are underinsured by almost 20%.  Call CSIA yearly to reassess your policy and make sure you're covered.

Finally, be proactive.  By reviewing your policies and preparing your home and automobile for winter storms, this winter may just be a breeze!

Sasha McInnis

With an eye, and an ear, for detail, Sasha McInnis is our Spotlight Employee!

Sasha, one of CSIA's Customer Service Representatives, has quickly earned a reputation for her strong customer service skills, her work ethic, and her love of animals (Sasha is the proud parent of "two spoiled pit bulls. Bambi is almost 8 years old and Moses is 4"). 

Assisting with personal lines customers that call in, writing new policies, and servicing existing business accounts have been three of Sasha's primary duties.  But the things she likes best are helping clients and working with her team at CSIA.

Sasha is a strong communicator; she asks lots of questions and takes her time to make sure she is doing things correctly.  By knowing what questions to ask her clients, she is able to better understand their needs, and provide them with assistance and solutions that fit their lives.  And as for her team, Sasha simply says, "The team at CSIA is very friendly and helpful. It's always a good working environment."
