Blood Drive Volunteers Needed |
All Saints' is hosting and sponsoring a blood drive on Saturday, September 22nd. We are in need of some volunteers and some baked goods. There will be two shifts: 9:45 - 1 and 12:45 - 4. Volunteer opportunities include: one greeter, two donor escorts, two canteen servers, one registration assistant, two refreshment volunteers and two people at 8 am and 4 pm to help set up and take down. They provide some snacks and juice but anything else baked by us is welcome. Please let me know if you are willing to help this blood drive be successful. Sign up sheets are on the bulletin board. Thank you.

Behind the Scenes at All Saints': Altar Guild
|
Phil Wasmuth brings us this new series of photos and "inside information" for the Enews. Thank you, Phil, for helping us get to know some of our Saints - and their good works - a little better!
Our congregation knows Ted, Donna, and Nixon, and the terrific work they do to make our church run smoothly. I would like to look deeper behind the scenes to let our congregation know about the various moving parts that are also essential for our church to function smoothly. Everything in our church happens because some group or individual made it happen. Highlighting these groups in this endeavor will not be in any order of importance as they are all important, but rather they will be highlighted as I run across these "moving parts" at church.
The altar guild is responsible for preparation for the church service. Some of those duties are making sure all linens are ready; wine and bread are available; all vessels used in the church service are polished and available; all candles and candle holders are ready. Members of the altar guild also assist and are present for all weddings and funerals. Their presence at all weddings and funerals help insure that the service will go smoothly. Obviously these are essential tasks for our church, and this is the group that makes it happen. Carolyn Sundquist, and Carolyn Hoffmann serve this year as co-directors. Members of the altar guild (pictured) are on left side front to back: Rector, Ted Rice, Carolyn Hoffmann, Carolyn Sundquist, Pam Liedtke, Louise Graham. Right side front to back: Fenton Friend, Louise Locke, Lorraine Holley, Beth Smith, Pat Mclaughlin, and Prue Fitts. Absent from this meeting but also active in the altar guild are Cate McMahon, Lorraine Crocker, Martha Cross, Penny Curtis, Sue Harding, Karin Hargy, Sandy McBeth, and Linda Pacheco. It should also be noted that Grant Haley performs altar guild duties for the 8:00 a.m. service from May-October.
