Faculty Update:   Farewell to Mr. Dave Beskar

Coach Dave BeskarMr. Beskar

[This is the honoring of Dave Beskar that Bill Wacker gave to the student body and faculty of Trinity at a recent Morning Prayer.]

I have known Dave Beskar since he was twelve-years old. My first memory of him comes from the time we took a big group of men and boys up to my father's hunting property near Milaca, Minnesota. We were on a mission to cut firewood for the Beskar farmstead, and like everything with Dave and his dad, it was slightly larger than life. They brought their big grain truck and we filled it with wood. The truck got a flat tire on the drive home and they had to unload it just to jack it up and repair the tire - then reload the truck.

My memories come both from my observations on visits to the farm and quite honestly the host of stories that I have heard him tell and re-tell over the years. I no longer try to sort out what I observed from what I have heard. If you want to laugh, ask him about the time his father had to hit a bull with his truck to save his life, or about their two dogs Skeeter and Ernie; He has stories about milking cows, spreading manure, playing basketball, and rebuilding the farm after a devastating wind storm. My admiration for him as a person deepened during those years. I quite honestly envied the dedication and work ethic which were forged on the farm. He has an enormous ability to endure hardship which was probably forged at 4:30 a.m. on cold January mornings when he had to get up and milk cows. His stories also reveal his sense of humor and love for life. And if you listen carefully you will hear that he loves a challenge. (Read More)

Summer Play 2011

Once again, Trinity alumni are invited to participate this summer in a dramatic production. Last year's Agatha Christie mystery was loads of fun and an audience delight.

This year's play will be performed the weekend of July 22, 23, 24; exact days and times on that weekend are yet to be determined. If you are interested, contact Debby Salmon at
dsalmon@trinityschools.org

We ask that you are certain about your availability so that we do not have to make last-minute cast changes. Technical jobs are available as well, and may be open to current Trinity students as well as alums. We look forward to hearing from you!

Literature On Tap

Are you interested in a summer literature seminar series for alumni?  This could be an English and Irish Literature series; perhaps meeting once a week at various pubs around the Twin Cities to discuss literature and poetry.  Selections may include the Augustan, Romantic and Modernist periods.  Authors could include Alexander Pope, Jonathan Swift, William Wordsworth, Byron and Shelley, W.B. Yeats, T. S. Eliot, and James Joyce.

If you are interested in participating, please contact  Lucy Cunningham at alumni.rr@trinityschools.org.
