InkjetMall

InkjetMall in the blogs, a new large format refillable ink cart with an internal bag, inexpensive Piezography Carbon ink sets for desktop Epson printers!

Are you keeping up with all our news?

Dana Ceccarelli and Jon Cone

A refillable cart with an isolated ink bag.

It's been awhile since I last blogged. We've had holidays, a New Year has passed, and we've been very busy.

We've redesigned another cartridge. This time we're marrying a very high-quality chip with a very strong PP welded cart that has an internal 350ml ink bag.

Using an internal ink bag makes our refillable carts act like the OEM carts. The ink and the air used to pressurize the ink never meet. Instead, a funnel is used to pour ink into an internal bag through a silicone plug/valve at the back of the cart. It's very easy to prime and use. You can read more about it here.

We're combining these carts with the new ConeColorPRO K3V inks for the Epson 7890 and 9890 printers, as well as the new ConeColorPRO HDR inks for the Epson 7900 and 9900 printers. You can find these products on our website now.

These carts use a new chip resetter and we now have a maintenance tank chip resetter for the above printers. You can buy one here.

Because we are manufacturing these products to our spec and performing the final assembly ourselves we've been able to lower the cost of a refillable cartridge for these printer models - while at the same time improving the reliability.

ConeColorPRO inks are our second generation of ConeColor encapsulated pigment inks. It has the same printhead reliability because it is a true encapsulated pigment particle. What we've improved on is glossiness, dMax and capping station behavior. The first two you will notice - the last bit you won't. This ink is backwards compatible, can be used to refill existing ConeColor ink carts. We will roll out ConeColorPRO K3 inks next month. At that time, I will write more extensively on them. We are producing new ICC profile libraries for the 7900/9900 and the 7890/9890 which will feature 54 professionally produced ICC profiles.

Try Piezography Carbon K6 and K7 inks in your Epson 1400, 1800, 1900, 2400 and 2880 desktop printers for $90 to $120

TryMe!That's not a typo! We're pre-charging a set of refillable carts with this ink for you to try. Whether your printer has color inks in it or another type of Piezography ink - you only need to swap them out. Download QTR and give it a go. If you like this ink - you only need to order a set of bottles and if you have not paid $50 for QuadTone RIP, then you need to license this shareware software.

Why you might wish to try Carbon is because it is the longest lasting ink every designed for black & white printing and the only ink to have passed the strict criteria of the Aardenburg Imaging & Archives upper and lower limits test. But, also in all but the Epson 1400, this ink set is now matte and glossy compatible. You may wish to try it and see if you want to upgrade your current Piezography Carbon setup to matte/glossy. There are plenty reasons to try. Piezography Carbon is a gorgeous ink set that can be made to print warmer or cooler depending upon your paper choice. You can read more about it here.

Jon Cone: Piezography Masterful Prints, Masterful Life

Jon ConeJon Cone is already well known for his Piezography ink jet printing process, setting a standard in quality and fidelity that Canon, Epson and HP have yet to reach. However, Piezography has come a long way and Jon is not one to sit on past accomplishments. So come ready to expand your horizons for what ink jet can do for your portfolio expectations. And come hungry. When Jon is here we like food here. There’s a persistent rumor that Jon will bring his 40” paella pan and teach how to make paella outdoors in Santa Fe’s wonderful weather.

With a mastery of Piezography, not only will you be able to exceed the B&W limitations of Epson’s ABW but with new ink sets and technology you can make transparencies for silver halide darkroom prints, gorgeous platinum and palladium prints, or any other type of print that requires a transparency. Jon will take you from basics to mind blowing in five days. If inkjet is not in your future studio growth, Jon will teach you how to prepare and pre-visualize your files for output from the growing list of Piezography printing providers across the Country.

In addition to working at Boy Fish Press, the studio of MakingArtSafely, we will take a field trip to Bostick and Sullivan, after which we will make some alternative prints using Cone Piezography transparencies. This workshop will take you to new places for your photographic printing.

Prerequisites: Artists who have experience in photography and digital.

Faculty: Jon started as a photographer who could not resist alternative process and was drawn to printmaking. As a Master Printer, he printed serigraphy, intaglio, monoprint and relief in a painterly style before being drawn back into photography via Fox Talbot’s method of aquatint-photogravure. Jon established Cone Editions Press in 1980 and in 1984 it became the world's first digital printmaking studio. He has continually been providing innovative collaborative printmaking for artists and photographers around the world.

He's been a printer to Gordon Parks as well as Richard Avedon. He spent the years 2005-2008 in New York City with photographer Gregory Colbert where Cone printed the monumental scale Ashes and Snow projects for the Nomadic Museum. Cone designed both the methodology and inks for the Avedon and Colbert projects. And it is mostly ink-making where Cone is recognized among black & white photographers. His Piezography inks and software have been used by more than 10,000 photographers to date.

"Being able to manifest technology has always benefited my printmaking, yet I only develop techniques because of inspiration drawn from those I’ve selected to print for. I’ve always shared my techniques through education believing it the most gratifying manifestation of experience." Cone established the first digital printmaking workshops in the early 1990s and trained the first wave of professional print studios for IRIS Graphics in the mid-1990s. He's taught inkjet printmaking in places as far away as the Royal College of Art in London, and as locally as in his own studio in East Topsham, Vermont. This will be the first workshop in which a holistic approach to all possible permeations of Piezography has been presented.
