Important heads-up for Piezography users and those planning on using Piezography for Large Format.

Epson has discontinued the Epson 7880 and 9880 printers.

Why this might concern you: Piezography use requires special printer drivers which communicate to the printer and convert the use from RGB to separate channel configuration. Our two software vendors require codes from Epson in order to produce the QuadTone RIP and the ErgoSoft StudioPrint RIP. Without codes, special drivers can not be made that support Piezography inks. Epson will no longer share their driver codes with companies that support third-party inks. Both QuadTone RIP and ErgoSoft can not support Piezography on the new Epson 4900, 7900, 9900, 7700, 9700, 7980 and 9980 printers, and have notified us as such.

I learned last week that there were only 30 Epson 9880s left in the channel supply. Epson has already sold the last of the Epson 7880 printers. This morning, after I made my own purchase of Epson 9880 printers (for inventory and archive), I learned that there are only 10 more printers in the entire Epson inventory. That number may already be lower as of this writing...

If you are considering Piezography large format or wish to have an additional printer for your future, you should act as soon as possible. I purchased my printers for only $3,200 which includes free shipping. There is an instant rebate in effect as well as a close-out price which reduces it from the $4,995 retail. If you contact me - I will put you in touch with a vendor who is acting ASAP on this.

We do not have plans to support Piezography Large Format other than on legacy printers at this point. We already have refillable cartridges for the Epson 9700, 9900, 7700 & 9700 printers. The problem is not cartridges - rather it is that QuadTone RIP and ErgoSoft can no longer support our inks.

Whereas, we are in Beta release of ConeColor for HDR (7900, 9900) printers and the Ricoh 7700 and 9700 printers - there will be no Piezography systems released for these printers.

At my own studios, we have installed all new Epson 7880 printers and we have two new 64" large format Piezography printers. We will be installing 44" Epson 9880 Piezography printers and we have some archive of new printers for deep into the future. (Hard to believe, but we still have one more brand new in the box IRIS 3047 printer - because we have a die-hard customer of this technology and reserve systems which went out of production in the late 1990s for her.) We will continue to make Piezography inks for many years and continue to provide Piezography printing for many years. But, for those who are planning a large format upgrade for themselves - time is of the essence.

Please reply to me and I will put you in touch with a vendor that has direct access to the remaining inventory. They are offering personal purchase 6 months 0% interest, or business lease at 24 months (@$153.44 per month) with end-of-lease $1 buyout.

We're driving down the cost of ownership and increasing the ecological responsibilities of our customers.

Please email me directly with questions and comments.
