Congratulations to our MLK Contest Winners!

 

Silicon Valley FACES recognized the winners of our 23rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Writing, Art & Multimedia Contest at a reception on January 13th at Evergreen Valley High School. This event was made possible by the generous support of Lockheed Martin, KPMG, and the San Francisco 49ers Foundation.

 

Over 1000 students from all 12 schools in the East Side Union High School District participated in the contest. 

 

A special thanks goes out to San Jose Independent Police Auditor LaDoris Cordell for being the master of ceremonies for the event. Additionally, we would like to thank the many elected officials who were on hand to congratulate the winners. We also appreciate the support and partnership of the ESUHSD.

Hon. Len Edwards named Los Altan of the Year

 

The Hon. Len Edwards was named Los Altan of the Year this month by the Los Altos Town Crier.  Len Edwards was a Family and Juvenile Court judge in Santa Clara County for 26 years. Len Edwards recently retired from our board after 28 years of service. He now serves as a Senior Advsior for FACES.

 

 

Bellarmine H.S. Honors Mike & Mary Ellen Fox

 

Bellarmine High School recently honored longtime volunteers Mary Ellen and Mike Fox, Sr. with the 2011 Bellarmine President's Award for their three decades of support for the college preparatory school. To read the article San Jose Mercury  News, click here.  

 

Mike Fox served on our Board of Directors for 17 years. We truly appreciate all that he and Mary Ellen have done for our organization and the community.

 

Cyber Bullying

   

Bay Area law enforcement officer Steve DeWarns is taking on cyber bullying. He has been featured on the Dr. Phil Show and recently presented to the parents at Sacred Heart Elementary School in Saratoga. His website internetchildsafety.net has tips and links on how to deal with cyber bullying and prevent it.
