Witch Hunt
Leigh has been married to a Hawthorne for a decade, but never knew the family secret: the Hawthornes are witches. When the dynamic Preacher Cody instigates a new worldwide witch hunt, Leigh must choose sides. Will she stand with her husband and children, or will she run? This isn't the first witch hunt the Hawthornes have faced, but it could be their last. Will anyone survive?
A classic novel, updated for the 21st Century!
"Witch Hunt has a riveting storyline that will keep you turning the pages late into the night." -Rocky Mountain News
"Witch Hunt is an outstanding book which grabs you right from the beginning." -Locus
"A superb examination of the corrupting influence of power: political, social, economic, religious, and sexual power. Witch Hunt works well on several different levels, and the story comes very close to being a modern religious and political allegory." -2AM Magazine

The Poem & The Poet
Witch Hunt ends with a poem. It had to be a powerful poem to sum up the message of the novel, and I tried to compose it...and failed miserably. So, my good friend, award-winning poet Steve Kowit, rewrote the poem and turned it into a thing of beauty. Steve is the author of many books of poetry, his verse is occasionally read by Garrison Keillor on NPR, and his most recent book may be found here on Amazon.com |
The Book Designer
Both Witch Hunt and Glory were designed by talented graphic designer Sue Campbell. She designed the covers and the interiors. Sue has worked in graphic design for 30 years and in book design/packaging for about ten years. She says, "Given all the kinds of graphic design jobs out there, for me nothing is better than packaging the words of a writer in a way that enhances their beauty, reinforces their message, and sets a tone for the experience of the reader." My Highly Intelligent, Wildly Creative & Incredibly Sexy Writers' Group
Writing the new edition of Witch Hunt was a group effort. My writers' support group divided the first edition into sections and each member critiqued it to help me decide what needed updating. Thank you Sandra Bowers, Sue Campbell, Julie Golden, Tom Parsons, Martha Peacock, Dave Wiley, and Ellen Wilkin. I love you guys!

The TV Mini-Series
The first edition of Witch Hunt was published in 1990 by Simon & Schuster's Pocket Books in English, and Heyne in German. At that time, my literary agent worked closely with The William Morris Agency in L.A. to put together a TV mini-series. And it almost happened. Alas, the project fell through, as these things often do. However, you just never know what the future may hold! |
