Greetings!
A little over a month ago I posted a blog entry called "Ellen DeGeneres meets Xena:Warrior Princess." It was a humorous little piece that spoke about how the Australian Shepherd Talisman in my comic novel RED HOT PROPERTY has an Ellen crush. Then I made a couple tweets to ask people to read the blog. The next thing I knew, Ellen DeGeneres was following me on Twitter. Then Ellen's people told me to send her a copy of RED HOT PROPERTY. I've danced with Hollywood before and don't expect a lot to happen as a result of all this, but these are the moments that brighten the otherwise dull existence of a writer. You just never know what the future may hold!

Chance to be a guest star in RED HOT LIBERTY!
2006 Crufts Best In Show - BISS MBIS AKC/ASCA Ch Caitland Isle Take A Chance AX AXJ RS-E JS-E GS-E STDs TDI "Chance" was the first Australian Shepherd to win Best In Show at Crufts, the largest and most prestigious international dog show. He is making a guest appearance in RED HOT LIBERTY! He will play himself and will be Talisman's "forbidden love," as two merle Aussies are not allowed to mate. But, whenever possible, they do share stolen moments filled with canine angst... Simply hilarious!

WINNER: Show Dog Sings the Blues Contest!
 There were many wonderful book title suggestions for the new comic tale about Australian Shepherd Talisman, and we want to thank everyone who contributed ideas! In this spin-off from the RED HOT series, pampered show dog Talisman accidentally gets switched with a hardcore cow dog for the day and has to work on a ranch. She must learn to cowdog up! Originally planned as a children's book, it has been reimagined as a bonus book for lovers of the RED HOT series. The working title of SHOW DOG SINGS THE BLUES was submitted by Karen Wingert Youmans and is the one we have decided on. Congratulations Karen!

Red Hot Inspiration! The worst pick-up line in history was the seed from which the RED HOT series was born. Many years ago I was in my office and turned to see a fellow real estate professional standing in the doorway giving me the once-over. He said, "You're one red hot property with lots of curb appeal, and you show real well. You might be a great addition to my inventory."
My first thought was, "I'm going to use that in a novel someday."
RED HOT PROPERTY is the seriocomic tale of plucky real estate agent Molly O'Malley and her adventures in the crazy world of real estate. Any resemblance between Molly O'Malley and Devin O'Branagan isn't in the least bit coincidental. However, Molly did come up with a much more witty comeback than I did. She said, "I don't think your down payment is large enough to handle it."
