Home Never Felt So Good!
After 10 days straight of chemo, Adam is back home on the island. Despite the high dosage, his system is handling the treatment well. He's exhausted, has good days and bad, but overall he's in great spirits.
The doctors are pleased with Adam's progress. His weight is down, meaning there is less fluid in his chest, and his lungs are sounding clearer.
He is in a recovery week: off treatment and off the meds for the most part.
Chemo starts again on November 23rd. He'll get treatment Monday - Friday, have off the weekend, and start again the following week. Then is another recovery week. During that second recovery week, they'll run body scans and find out how well the chemo is working. Send out those positive thoughts and prayers for a much diminished and weakened mass!

Special Thanks to the Ronald McDonald House
We've been thrilled to be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald House on 73rd while Adam gets treatment at Sloan Kettering.
In addition to our room, we have access to shared kitchen facilities, laundry, computer lab, and one very well stocked playroom. We haven't tried Guitar Hero yet, but that Playstation is calling out to us...

Chemo Day
A typical day of chemo treatment involves arriving at Sloan anytime after 8 am and before 10:30. Adam checks in at the front desk, meets with part or all of his medical team, and heads for a recliner.
He's made a number of new friends in the clinic, some with the same type of cancer, many with other types.
Adam was lucky to get into the Pediatric Clinic at Sloan. They firmly believe that a patient should be treated on an outpatient basis. They also have some of the finest nurses and doctors, all of whom have been great.
Sloan works hard at providing distractions for their patients. Each day they provide Adam and his companion with lunch. There is also access to snacks and cappuccino throughout the day. On Tuesday and Thursday there is an improve class, on Friday a cooking demonstration and most days we get a visit from some very strange clowns in lab coats - literal clowns. And the best distraction for Adam - wireless access!
PICTURED HERE: Adam is using his knot tying skills learned from sailing to master making string bracelets - a hobby he's learning from another patient.
