 About Sunday's Service

We stand at a point in history filled with both promise and danger - in our world and in our movement. We have the tools to help move ourselves and our world toward unity, healing and prosperity, but where do we start? With a Faith Lift! I am excited for our faith in this century, and grateful to be back with you to explore what Unitarian Universalism means in Clearwater, and the world!

The Reverend Amy Carol Webb grew up knowing she wanted to sing and preach, finally found her full voice in Unitarian Universalism, and was ordained as a UU minister in May of 2011. She is currently working as a hospice Chaplain, preaching wherever needed, and composing new music focused for expanding and exploring both our human and spiritual natures. This summer, she releases her ninth music CD, entitled "Welcome Home," and is working on a book of UU poetry.

A member of the Social Justice Council will deliver this month's Social Justice Report. The purpose of the Social Justice Report is to inform the congregation and the public about social justice concerns.

This is Share the Plate Sunday. Our recipient is The Barton Center for Diabetes Education, Inc.

Dr. David Katz
I hope this finds all of you well.  I am writing you today to tell you that it is that wonderful time of the year when we get to begin our church year---again!
This year will be perhaps the most exciting yet as we make music as a community which digs deeper into the sources of our Unitarian Universalist roots.

Religious Education Happenings
ice cream
We scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!

Please join us this Sunday as we conclude our summer program and beat the heat with ice cream and all the toppings! But that's not all! Dress to get wet (and maybe a little dirty) as we break out the water balloons, bubbles and more! Don't forget your towel! Let's convince some adults to throw caution to the wind and get wet with us too!

If you would like to lend a hand, please email Christine.

Our high school youth group will gather from 12-1pm for open discussion.

Remember, the Teacher retreat on Saturday August 18th from 9am-3pm. Let's learn together and have fun while doing it!

I hope to see you on Sunday with a smile!

Hospitality Scarcity

Do you love a good cup of java (fair trade of course), a delicious cookie (or a healthy carrot stick), and some great UUC hospitality?  As it turns out, most UUC members, friends and visitors enjoy the hospitality time following service each Sunday.  Even more satisfying is helping to make this special time happen.  Sign up in the Social Hall kitchen this week to help with one, or more than one, upcoming Sunday.  Play an active role in making UUC a "Welcoming Congregation."  You may also sign up by calling the UUC front office T-F, 9 a.m. - noon, 727-531-7704.

Everyone will enjoy this movie. More of an adult film than a family film. It takes place in a condom factory. IT'S IMPORTANT to RSVP to Joe Weinstein or Lynette Wood so that we don't end up with a potluck dinner with five dozen deviled eggs! It is OK to come at the last minute with a $5 donation.

Summer swelters on.  Katherine is recovering from her recent surgery.  We are in preparations for our move early next month.  The Olympics dominate the news as well as The Circus of election year politics.  But what of any of it?  The Republicans are on their way here soon.  But best of all, that man who, in my opinion, is the best president of my lifetime, Mr. Bill Clinton, will be speaking at the Democratic Convention this year.  Yay!!!
