That's what the future is for: to build the present, with real plans, made by living people.
From The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery
I am writing to you as your new President filling in for Denise Seeber who had to withdraw because of her health. Denise and Roberta Watson worked well together and I am fortunate to have inherited the results from their work. Denise set up systems for the Board and other leaders to follow which will make our endeavors during the next year and in the future much easier. I am truly grateful to them both for all of their contributions to the health and vitality of UUC.
This year will be an exciting time for UUC and the future of liberal religion in our area as we move forward with the recently approved strategic long-term plan. I will ask the board to place a priority on communicating with the congregation as we progress with its implementation. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via e-mail or Cassie Alderman, President Elect.
In faith and hope, Susan Hegner

PUBLICATION DEADLINES OCTAGRAM - WEEKLY EVERY THURSDAY The Octagram is intended to focus on activities taking place at UUC or those of interest to UUC members and friends. Send items in brief with a link to more information to Octagram. PLEASE DO NOT SEND INFORMATION FORMATTED, OR IN A FLIER. Provide text in an email, or as an attached Word file with any pictures/graphics attached to the email. Deadline is 10 a.m. every Wednesday. Prepared by Jeff Anderson, assisted by Leslie Conrad. Sunday, June 17 is Father's Day. It is also Watergate Day. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the day Frank Wills caught seven men trying to break into Democratic National Headquarters in the Watergate Hotel. So, Sunday I think I will watch All The President's Men again and write love sonnets to Woodward and Bernstein for having the courage and wherewithal to see this story through in the toughest of times and also to Robert Redford who encouraged the duo to tell, not just the story of Watergate, but their story of how they came to write the series of articles that stripped away the layers of deceit. So Happy Father's Day with Liberty and Justice for all. ORDER OF SERVICE/ANNOUNCEMENTS - WEEKLY EVERY SUNDAY SERVICE: Deadline is 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Send appropriate items to Order of Service/Announcements. Prepared by Pat St. Clair. ITEMS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING PUBLICATION, IF APPLICABLE.
