Worship means different things to different people. It is often defined as an activity to placate and get in touch with divine powers. What does it mean in a UU context? The service will investigate.
Dr. David Katz, on piano, will be playing Prelude by Keith Kolander, You Are My All In All by Dennis L Jernigan (arr. by John Carter), Love Theme from Out of Africa by John Barry, Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and The Lone Wild Bird, American Folk Hymn (arr. by Eugene Butler).

With deep gratitude, I announce a very generous contribution from Dr. Vasant Surti. Dr. Surti has made a capital donation of $200,000.00 for the purpose of capital improvements. The generosity and vision of Dr. Surti's gift is significant. His gift springs from a deep commitment to UUC's vision and mission and demonstrates the profound difference one person can make in assuring that our progressive religious values flourish. We are in the process of completing a letter agreement of intent, but the essence of the agreement will be that the purpose of the gift is restricted to capital improvements for our campus. There is no requirement that the funds be used immediately, and to that end, the funds will be placed in a Restricted Capital Improvement Account so that they will be available when a decision is made as to their most appropriate use. Thank you, Dr. Surti. You are an inspiration with your generosity. Bobbie Watson, president |

Your Diet--Your World: Connects--Disconnects
|
The presentation will draw connections between our daily diet, our personal health, our nation's health, and "Our Blue Boat Home," our planet's health. Dr. Bird, a UUC member, has been researching the connections between diet and health for the past two decades. Early in his career he was an Assistant Professor of Humanities at Mercer University-Atlanta; some years later he was a Personnel Trainer for the Georgia Dept. of Transportation; before retiring three years ago, he was a Librarian for twenty years with the Hillsborough County Public Library system." |

Sat, June 2
Join in the fun beginning at 8 a.m., or whenever you get going, as we tackle some much needed projects to help clean up/repair the much used and much loved UUC property and buildings - light yard work (edging, trimming, raking, mulching, etc.), minor repairs, cleaning, painting, etc. Bring your gardening tools, gloves, talents and enthusiasm. Refreshments will be available throughout the morning with a pizza lunch at noon. Please RSVP to Bill Norsworthy. |

6:30 pm
UUC Social Hall
Come one and all to the Interweave Potluck and Movie night. This month's feature is The Birdcage starring Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman, Diane Wiest & Hank Azaria in a hilarious update of La Cage Aux Folles. (My favorite scene is Robin Williams' frantic instructions to a dancer--ED.)
Bring a covered dish, OR $5. Please RSVP by e-mailing Joe Weinstein or call Joe at 813-263-2989 at least two days in advance. |

Do you have something you no longer need and would love to pass on or is there something you wish you could get? Give and Take (UUC's very own Craig's List) is the perfect site to explore. It can be items such as furniture, tools, etc. or even services you can offer or a service with which you would appreciate someone's help. And the best part is the sharing with other UUs. Go to the link, view what is available, or fill out the form for something you can offer. Give & Take |

This team needs YOU
The volunteer teachers at the UUC Hispanic Preschool Project are looking for some additional people who are interested in helping out this summer. The program is on Thursday morning from 10-11:30. We are working with children age 1-4 years and their moms to help them become familiar with English. It's really fun and no experience is necessary, except a love for young children. If you are interested in finding out more about this community outreach program speak to any of the teachers or contact Linda Stoller at 442-3551. |

Monday morning I received an e-mail from Steve Martin, yes THAT Steve Martin. I said to myself "What does STEVE want with ME?!" Turns out he wanted me to buy an album put out by some guys he knows called the Steep Canyon Rangers. I thought, what is this? Steve wants me to spend my hard-earned spondulics on products of his friends? So I wrote back to him: "Hey! I work for a living!" Of all the nerve. Sheesh. So I listened to the blue grass version of King Tut and that settled me down after a bit.
