About Sunday's Service
My mission in life was not clear to me. I traveled a convoluted path. But here I find myself mission in hand weaving my hopes and dreams with others. Where are you on this journey? Have you been awakened to a call that captures your soul? Where will you go with it? Let us seek our missions together.
Rev. Kristen Harper serves as the minister of the Unitarian Church of Barnstable, MA.
This is Share The Plate Sunday at UUC. Our recipient this Sunday is Florida Guardian Ad Litem Program. | |

When I was five years old, my mother always told me that happiness was
the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted
to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy.' They told me I didn't
understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand
life."

"There is a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning" .... proclaims Jimmy Buffet in a popular song. Listening to spiritual teachers, reading their books or engaging in uplifting conversations leaves one feeling almost euphoric. But that feeling can be way too short-lived - there is often a chasm between the intellectual grasping of spiritually uplifting concepts and the implementation of them in day-to-day life. The presenter of this session believes that 'situational equanimity' or 'awareness' or 'enlightenment' - call it what you like - is a natural state of being that is begging to bear fruit from each and every person's consciousness. In this session, the presenter will share techniques used to bring that short-lived state of mind to becoming a part of everyday life. About The Presenter: Parag and his family are winter residents of Florida and attend UUC. Born in India, Parag Karkhanis' childhood was steeped in a tradition and culture as old as humanity. He came to the US to finish his education and subsequently settled here. |

The Entire Month of May
The Economic Justice team is collecting donations of NEW underwear and socks during the month of May for men and women (no children) at the Pinellas Safe Harbor, a homeless shelter located in Clearwater. There is a great need for new items of this sort and provides some dignity for the residents. There is a big, blue box in the church lobby-let's fill it to the brim!! |

Do you have something you no longer need and would love to pass on or is there something you wish you could get? Give and Take (UUC's very own Craig's List) is the perfect site to explore. It can be items such as furniture, tools, etc. or even services you can offer or a service with which you would appreciate someone's help. And the best part is the sharing with other UUs. Go to the link, view what is available, or fill out the form for something you can offer. Give & Take |

This team needs YOU
The volunteer teachers at the UUC Hispanic Preschool Project are looking for some additional people who are interested in helping out this summer. The program is on Thursday morning from 10-11:30. We are working with children age 1-4 years and their moms to help them become familiar with English. It's really fun and no experience is necessary, except a love for young children. If you are interested in finding out more about this community outreach program speak to any of the teachers or contact Linda Stoller at 442-3551.
