About Sunday's Service
What's on your mind? Are there questions you have about the spiritual journey, theology, ethics, UUC, life in general, or a thousand other things? This is your chance to ask! Your questions will be the focus of Abhi's reflections. Because he won't see your questions in advance, spontaneity rather than well thought-out answers are the order of the day. It's a lot of fun! So, come with your questions! And stump the minister! | |

Volunteer Appreciation
Sunday April 29 |
What Is Success?
Ralph Waldo Emerson
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;
That is to have succeeded.
Volunteers are the key to UUC's success. On this Sunday, April 29th, we will be recognizing our volunteers during the service and during the social hour. If you have volunteered over the past year, please check in at the volunteer table in the Social Hall after the service. We want to say thanks to you! |

 UUC Scholarships to GA Available |
COME TO PHOENIX! The UUC Board is now offering scholarships for the Unitarian Universalists General Assembly 2012, June 20-24, in Phoenix, Arizona. The Scholarships will defray the costs to attend the General Assembly. The amount of each Scholarship will ultimately depend on the number of requests, the need of the applicant, and the ability of the applicant to pay for the expenses not covered by the Scholarship (as no Scholarship will cover all expenses). Priority will be given to delegates and to youth (youth and other applicants must be UUC members to qualify). The deadline for application is May 15, 2012. General Assembly 2012 will be an inspiring gathering with multiple ways of engaging in justice work for people of all ages. Pick up an application after service at the Social Justice table or print one out here. Fill in the form and give it to Abhi, Sue Boone or leave it with Social Justice table. PUBLICATION DEADLINES OCTAGRAM - WEEKLY EVERY THURSDAY The Octagram is intended to focus on activities taking place at UUC or those of interest to UUC members and friends. Send items in brief with a link to more information to Octagram. PLEASE DO NOT SEND INFORMATION FORMATTED, OR IN A FLIER. Provide text in an email, or as an attached Word file with any pictures/graphics attached to the email. Deadline is 10 a.m. every Wednesday. Prepared by Jeff Anderson, assisted by Leslie Conrad. While Katherine was attending a work conference in Orlando during the first part of the week I was diligently searching a database of playlists from the Dr. Demento radio show during the mid-seventies and found a song I had been searching out for a long time. It's called Hello DJ by Don Bowman. It was so cool to find this song after years of searching. Aside from that this issue was produced with the help of generous amounts of popcorn and starting the day with a good breakfast. Let's all get ready for the town hall meetings in May that lead up to the congregational meeting on May 20th. Peace out y'all. ORDER OF SERVICE/ANNOUNCEMENTS - WEEKLY EVERY SUNDAY SERVICE: Deadline is 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Send appropriate items to Order of Service/Announcements. Prepared by Pat St. Clair. ITEMS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING PUBLICATION, IF APPLICABLE. Octagram headline artwork of the UUC courtyard pond by Lynette Wood. |
