Joy probably isn't something you think about most of the time. With our busy schedules of work, school, church, soccer games, meetings and just trying to maintain some semblance of order in our homes, finding time to "be joyful" just doesn't make the list.

PUBLICATION DEADLINES OCTAGRAM - WEEKLY EVERY THURSDAY The Octagram is intended to focus on activities taking place at UUC or those of interest to UUC members and friends. Send items in brief with a link to more information to Octagram. PLEASE DO NOT SEND INFORMATION FORMATTED, OR IN A FLIER. Provide text in an email, or as an attached Word file with any pictures/graphics attached to the email. Deadline is 10 a.m. every Wednesday. Prepared by Jeff Anderson, assisted by Leslie Conrad. First, let me state I think George Zimmerman acted inappropriately in shooting Trayvon Martin and that his actions were not in self-defense. But that is just my opinion. As of now the State Attorney's office has the case before the Grand Jury. At this point grandstanding publicity seekers calling for the immediate arrest of Mr. Zimmerman and calling the lack of an arrest a "gross miscarriage of justice" exhibit little understanding of justice and of the legal system in the USA. Mr. Zimmerman is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Nonetheless he has been convicted by the media, and his guilt is unquestioned. The people repsonsible for prosecuting the case against Mr. Zimmerman seem to acting cautiously but still moving forward at this time. The burden of proof is on the prosecution, which is how it should be. Maybe they are trying to avoid the mistakes like the Casey Anthony case. In my opinion justice is being served, despite the actions of people who would lynch George Zimmerman in the name of justice. ORDER OF SERVICE/ANNOUNCEMENTS - WEEKLY EVERY SUNDAY SERVICE: Deadline is 6 p.m. every Wednesday. Send appropriate items to Order of Service/Announcements. Prepared by Pat St. Clair. ITEMS RECEIVED AFTER THE DEADLINES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE FOLLOWING PUBLICATION, IF APPLICABLE. Octagram headline artwork of the UUC courtyard pond by Lynette Wood. |
