 This year, Earth Day falls in the midst of a Canadian federal election, but the environment seems to have fallen off the political agenda. The disregard shown by the mainstream political parties for our land, air and water might ultimately leave us without a country to inhabit!
If you speak with a candidate in this final run-up to election day, here are a few questions you might wish to ask:
1. What will you do to protect more lands, waters, and oceans for nature and future generations?
2. What will you do to end subsidies to oil and gas companies, and stop mining companies from dumping waste in Canadian lakes?
3. What is your party's plan to really move Canada to a green economy powered by renewable energy?
No matter which political party you support, we urge you to vote for the candidate whose priorities take a long view towards the sustainability of this beautiful land we call Canada.

1% For the Planet Party!
Last month, The Good Planet Company announced it's membership in 1% for the Planet, a growing global movement of 1434 companies that donate 1% of their gross sales to a network of worldwide environmental organizations.
This week, we had a celebratory party! Attended by customers, members of the local business community, other 1% FTP members and our funding recipients (shown at left, with Good Planet Co-founder Ian) from The Habitat Acquisition Trust, The Victoria Compost Education Centre, LifeCycles and The Land Conservancy.

We believe that the wider our community, the wider the message will be heard.

Speaking of Community, the new Green Collective Brochure hit the streets today! The Green Collective is a group of nine small Victoria-based Green businesses out to earn your business! Now in our sixth year, we prove that "co-opetition" (we compete with each other, but co-operatively market, network, and refer customers) is alive and well in Victoria!
