Made in China?
We always value our customer's comments and strive to give balanced, well-thought out answers to your questions. Recently, we had a customer ask us about our policy regarding products made in China.
We have added our response to the Good Planet Company blog
Although the bulk of our products are Canadian made, some products inevitably hail from overseas manufacturers. There are pros and cons to all consumer goods on the market, and we have made it our mission to bring you the finest and most environmentally sound products out there. We think the majority of our customers will agree that we strike a good balance.
Of course, we're not perfect, and once in a while, we might succumb to a bit of green-washing or not factor an item's carbon footprint as accurately as we should. Our customers keep us on our toes, and we thank you for your vigilance!

No Tankers!
The Good Planet Company supports The Dogwood Initiative in it's "No Tankers" campaign to enact a permanent legislated ban on oil tanker traffic alon g the north and central coast of BC.
Besides the obvious potential for catastrophic natural habitat damage caused by oil spills, the banning of tankers also has direct links to global warming issues (the oil piped to the tankers originates in Canada's polluting oil sands), salmon habitat loss and First Nations land claims.

Local Business Feature
This past few years we've been using the services of a local computer company that we'd like to tell you about.
Swift Kick Computers keeps our technical systems running smoothly, provides us with on-line secure data backup and provides us with responsive and courteous service whenever we need it.
We also love the fact that Swift Kick is a very "green" company. They provide the best on-site computer services with the least amount of environmental impact, while giving back to the community. Swift Kick never sell us more computer than we need, they take obsolete computer hardware away for recycling, they even run their company car on biofuel!

Green Collective Prize to be won!
 The Green Collective is a group of small, locally owned and operated businesses showcasing environmentally responsible products.
Visit your favourite Green Collective locations this holiday season, or find one of our elves on the street to pick up a copy of our Scavenger Hunt card! On the backside, you'll find a series of questions - one for each store in the collective. Simply visit the respective stores, ask any employee the question and fill in SIX (or more) of the ELEVEN answers.
Once you have filled in at least six answers, drop your card off with any participating location.
Contest entry deadline: December 12th!
December 13th to 24th are theTWELVE GREEN DAYS OF CHRISTMAS. Once per day we'll draw a name from all the correct entries. Winners will be contacted and also announced on the Green Collective and member store blogs. Each daily prize will be a different package (valued around $50) from each one of the Green Collective Stores. The final grand prize (on December 24th) will be a group package, valued at over $100. Don't forget - entering is only the first part of the contest! Once you've submitted your answers, tell your friends about our contest to receive bonus entries.
Also, starting today, shopping at Green Collective stores provides an opportunity to get a Green Card! Spend $50 at any Green Collective member store and receive the Green Card, which offers the holder a minimum 15% discount at any Green Collective location during January and February in 2011.

We did it! 101 Loans made!
The Good Planet Company's KIVA team achieved it's 2010 goal to help 100 entrepreneurs around the world build their businesses and in turn help to feed their families.
While this part of our 2010 charitable campaign is coming to a close, the great thing about Kiva is that we can continue to re-invest the funds with other entrepreneurs as the original funds are repaid. With a 99% repayment rate, this is the gift that keeps on giving!
