Climate Mama News and Updates: March 2010
|
Greetings!
Are you ready for Earth Hour? Did you know that on March 27th, millions of people, "iconic" symbols, cities and towns around the globe, including: Mt. Rushmore, the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State Building, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Las Vegas Strip, will"go dark" for an hour to bring attention to climate change? Join in and/or encourage your kids to do so by commemorating the moment in your own way! Check out Earth Hour for more information. A new resource on climate change you might want to consult, Climate.gov, was launched recently by the US government; make it your new "one stop" science stop to get up to date information on climate change.
If you haven't already done so, please "meet" our March Climate Papa , Ric Stott, an architect from Long Island who has designed the first LEED Platinum House in the USA! Did you see our piece in More magazine? If not, take a look! Our February "salute to the Olympics" ended last week with our l ast blog post on Project Blue Sky. If you missed our series, we hope you will go back and check it out; don't forget to look at our "video peeks" from the Olympics too!
Climate Mama has two new partners, Explore.org and The Climate Summit, both of which have exciting upcoming programs we hope you will check out. Register for The Climate Summit's April 18th event; use 21st Century technology to participate. If you know of any budding or established film makers who have created videos showcasing individuals or groups that have inspired others to make a difference, tell them about Explore's current film competition. But hurry, the closing date for submissions is March 25th, go to Explore for more details.
Sincerely yours,
Climate Mama
