UBCO Opens New Building
Premier Christy Clark and other fellow delegates opened the new Reichwald Health Sciences Centre at the UBCO campus Thrusday Sept. 20.
The building is impressive and the theatre where medical students will be learning is top of the line, with microphones at each seat, a huge screen that makes it look more like an Imax theatre than a classroom.
"Students tend to practice where they're trained," said Premier Christy Clark, "and now student doctors can complete their entire medical undergraduate program right here in the Okanagan."

Humble Beginnings Turns into
a Vast Network of Care
In 1949 Gottlieb Wedman, a farmer in Alberta donated $7000 and what a difference that made. With those funds an "old folks home" was established for those who had no where else to go and no one to take care of them. Fast forward to 2012 and today the Good Samaritan Society offers services to over 4000 people in Alberta and British Columbia becoming the largest Not-for-profit continuing care provider in all of Canada. Kelowna's Good Samaritan Society is located on K.L.O. Rd. and has several buildings and a beautiful courtyard with roses and flowers. It's a little oasis off the busy street.

Are You Doing it Right?
Maintaining Company's Records is Extremely Important
The Business Corporations Act (the "Act") sets out a number of requirements that companies registered in British Columbia must comply with on an annual basis. Pursuant to the Act, a British Columbia company must hold an annual meeting of its shareholders or, alternatively, have annual resolutions executed in lieu of holding an actual meeting. The Act sets out the time restrictions on when these meetings must be held. For example, the first annual meeting for a newly incorporated company must be held within 18 months from the date on which the company was incorporated. After the first meeting, subsequent annual general meetings must be held at least once per calendar year but they cannot be more than 15 months from the annual reference date for the previous year (being the date of the previous annual general meeting).
