BC Jobs Update 

 

Last week Premier Christy Clark released the six-month progress report for the BC Jobs Plan. The progress report outlines milestones to grow BC's economy since the Jobs Plan's release last September, including:

  • The establishment of the Major Investments Office;
  • Investing over $500 million in skills training;
  • The National Energy Board's approval of a 20 year export license for the Kitimat LNG facility; and
  • $50 million in investments in road, rail and terminal infrastructure.

Canadian Chamber Tackling Barriers to Business 

 

The Canadian Chamber has launched an initiative to boost Canadian competitiveness in response to findings of the top 10 barriers facing businesses from across Canada.  The skills shortage has been identified as the largest barrier, a barrier which has been echoed in Kelowna during our talks to local businesses. 

 

The Canadian Chamber is encouraging engagement ,and looking for your input through a series of surveys and webinars.  Over the next year, the Chamber will be developing tools to find a solution to the barriers facing Canadian Business.
