Year End Festivity Recap
On Friday afternoon, some 60 families gathered behind the school for our annual Year End Festivities. After a brief welcome by Mrs. Fox, the children led the audience in singing "The Star Spangled Banner".
Mr. Matt was the lively auctioneer for the classroom items. Congratulations to the winners:
- Ms. Assunta's quilt: The Moore family
- Ms. Merike's clock: The Dugan family
- Ms. Talat's treasure chest: The Astran family
- Ms. Ratna's stepstool: The Cucinotta famiy
- Elementary mosaic table: The Scioli family
The auction was followed by performances of the different classes and a brief speech by the current PA chair.
Finishing out the official program was a Mexican Dance Troupe (friends of our own Ms. Alma), who performed the traditional "Mexican Hat Dance".
During and after the performances, Ms. Melissa helped children with tile painting. Thank you, Melissa, for "holding down the fort"!
Mrs. Levas (Nate/elementary and Samantha/Ms. Merike) deserves special recognition for organizing and setting up "Alex's Lemonade Stand"; Mrs. Matlack (Ted/Ms. Talat) for donating ice, cups and helping run the stand; Mrs. Tourtellotte (Julia/Ms. Talat) for donating cookies and cup cakes; the Esmail family for donating their popcorn popper, and the elementary students for mixing lemonade, popping corn and making the sign. Nate Levas and Nicholas Roman (both elementary) also deserve a big THANK YOU for manning the stand. Through their efforts and your contributions we raised over $178.00 in support of childhood cancer research!!
If you are interested in donating to our stand online you may still do so by clicking here.
All in all it was a lovely afternoon and evening and we are looking forward to more community events during the upcoming school year. |
Uniform Exchange Program
Dear Parents, We are nearing the end of the 2009-2010 school year, and we are excited that the uniforms have been adopted by the majority of our students. As you are aware, uniforms will be mandatory for all students (excluding Toddlers) starting in September 2010. We are pleased to announce our newly instituted Uniform Exchange Program, a service that allows parents to donate their child's uniforms that are either no longer in use or do not fit. As an exchange, you get an item for each one you donate. If you need items but do not have any to exchange, a nominal fee of $2.00 per item will be charged as a handling fee. If you donate items, but do not wish to receive an item, you may request a receipt for your donation from the office. This program is not a fundraiser or for profit, it is simply to help our parents.
A "Uniform Exchange Form"should be filled out whether you send in items or are looking to receive items; please circle the appropriate "Donate" or "Need" and fill in the number of pieces by size for each category. Donated items will be checked for wear, tear, and stains. Any items in good condition will be credited to you, and you will be able to retrieve as many items out of the Exchange as you donated. Any non-elegible items will be returned to you. Requested items will be gathered and you will be notified that they are ready for pick up. Please note that not all items in all requested sizes may be available when requested. If an item is not available, your order will be put in a "wait pool" to be filled when your requested item is available. To kick off the program, Mrs. Fox has announced that the month of June will be "uniform free". Uniform pieces can be sent in between Friday, May 28th and Friday, June 18th. Orders will be filled throughout the summer, as pieces become available. In addition, the Uniform Exchange will be open during the afternoons of parent orientation week (August 30th through September 2nd), as well as during Parent Association meetings. We are confident that the Uniform Exchange will prove to be a valuable service and we welcome any feedback or suggestions you may have. Thank you for your continued support. |
