This Week In History

On October 1,1890, an act of Congress creates Yosemite National Park, home of such natural wonders as Half Dome and the giant sequoia trees. Environmental trailblazer John Muir (1838-1914) and his colleagues campaigned for the congressional action, which was signed into law by President Benjamin Harrison and paved the way for generations of hikers, campers and nature lovers, along with countless "Don't Feed the Bears" signs.

Yard Waste and Recycling Drop-Off Dates

  • Tuesday, October 16 from 4 pm to 8 pm @ the sled hill parking lot
  • Tuesday, November 20 from 4pm to 8 pm @ the sled hill parking lot
Taking Back Prescription Drugs
Last Saturday the Bayside Police Department participated in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take- Back Day.  The Police Department collected over 200 pounds of unwanted prescription drugs from residents.   This helps keeps prescription drugs out of the hands of children and out of our water supply.
  • Please remember you can always drop-off prescription drugs at the Bayside Police Department.
Lakefront Marathon Coming Through Bayside
The Lakefront Marathon will be coming through Bayside tomorrow.  The race starts at 7:30 am at Glendale High School.  The following roads in Bayside will be affected by the Marathon:
  • N Lake Drive;
  • E Manor Circle;
  • N Meadowlark Lane;
  • Fairy Chasm; and
  • N Port Washington Road.
The Lakefront Marathon website has more information regarding the race, including route maps.  Please plan accordingly.
One Weekend, Two Events

During the weekend of October 27 and 28, Bayside will be hosting two of its most popular events:  Clean-Up Day and Fright Night.  Don't miss out on your last chance to dispose of unwanted items around the house and to have some family friendly Halloween fun with friends and neighbors after trick-or-treating.

When and Where?

  • Clean-Up Day:  Saturday, October 27 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the DCUS parking lot (enter off of Fairy Chasm).  Check out the flier to see what you can dispose of.
  • Fright Night:  Sunday, October 28 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Ellsworth Park.
  • Bayside Trick-or-Treat:  2:30 - 5:30 pm

Want to Volunteer?

The Village is always looking for help to make these events possible.  If you want to volunteer your time for either event, please contact Village Hall at 414-351-8811.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yard Waste Collection Next Week

Fall is upon us and yard waste collection is in full swing.  Please remember that modifications have been made to the yard waste collection schedule.  Please have all yard waste along side the road and ready for pick up by next week Wednesday at 7:00 am.  Village crews will pick up yard waste next Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, so please allow them time to get to your area.

  • Loose leaf will be picked up beginning the week of October 15.  Check out the collection schedule.

Yard Waste and Recycling Drop-Off Reminder

Residents can drop-off yard waste and recyclables at the sled hill parking lot on Tuesday, October 16 from 4 pm to 8 pm.

Want to Vote by Absentee Ballot?
Residents can fill out absentee ballot applications and return them to Village Hall to have an absentee ballot mailed to them.  Absentee ballots must then be mailed back to or dropped off at Village Hall.

Absentee Ballots Available at Village Hall on Oct. 22
Beginning Monday, October 22, residents may vote by absentee ballot at Village Hall.  State Statute prevents residents from voting at Village Hall prior to this date.
  • Village Hall will be open October 29 through November 1 until 6:00 pm for absentee voting.

Still Need to Register?
If you moved to Bayside and need to register to vote, or if you or someone you know is a first time voter, come into Village Hall to register to vote prior to the election.    You can also use the State's new voter information website to register to vote and to request an absentee ballot, along with much more.

10% Off Mulch Sale Continues
Fall is a great time for yard improvement projects, and the Village is
running a deal to help you save money.  Now through November 14, the Village is taking 10% off mulch deliveries for residents.  This means you
