Leaf Season |
|
Loose leaf collection will begin next week, on Monday, October 17. Each home in the Village is collected three (3) times per season, weather permitting. Next week, the following sections will be collected:
- Section 1 - Monday, October 17
- Section 2 - Tuesday, October 18
- Section 3 - Wednesday, October 19
- Section 4 - Thursday, October 20
Remember, you must keep your loose leaves separate from your yard waste. The Village collects leaves using a large collection vacuum. Leaves mixed with yard waste can clog or damage the impeller, causing potential equipment issues.
Mixed up on your collection days? Find everything you need to know by visiting the Village's website. |
Don't Come Knocking | |
Want to make sure you don't get any unwanted solicitors at your house? Sign up for the Village's Do Not Solicit List today. The program works much like the Do Not Call List, in that you can sign up to have your address removed from potentially being solicited.
How does it work? Solicitors are required to register with the Village Police Department prior to canvassing the area. At that time, they are given a list (addresses only) of homes that do not wish to participate. Interested? Just sign up by contacting Village Hall today, and we'll get your name added to the list. Be sure to include your full street address in the email. |

Water & Health Safety |

Saturday, October 29th is National Prescription Drug Take Back Day sponsored by the Drug Enforcement Administration. Nationwide Take Back events occur every six months, and the last two events brought in over 309 tons of pills.
Here are a few reasons why you should participate in this event:
- Over 47% of the population had at least one prescription drug in the past month,
- The majority of drug abusers obtain drugs fr
om a relative or friend, with or without their knowledge, - According to some studies as high as 40% of medicines that had been prescribed and purchased had never been used,
- Serious side effects can occur from taking expired prescription medications that may have become chemically altered,
- Flushing pills down the toilet or throwing them away can result in them getting into our water supply,
- A report by the General Accountability Office states that drinking water in the US has been found to be contaminated with pharmaceuticals with the most prevalent being estrogen-based hormones and antibiotics.
Bayside residents can bring back unused or unwanted prescription medicine to the Bayside Police Department, Monday - Friday, 8 am - 4:30 pm. Those participating in the Village's Fall Clean Up Days can also bring prescription medicine at that time. |
