You Can Recycle That
| |
Each week, the Village receives inquires from re sidents about what is, and what is not, recyclable material. These questions are great, because it means you're thinking about ways to recycle more and more products. So how about a little refresher?
More and more materials are now considered recyclable, and it shows. To date, the Village has recycled 412 tons of material, compared to 369 tons through the same stretch in 2010. That's a 11.5% increase! In addition, our recycling diversion rate is up nearly 3% over last year, meaning we're landfilling less material, which also provides a cost savings. Here are a few items you may not think about, but are recylable: - Yogurt containers;
- Phone books;
- Junk mail;
- Toys.
As a rule of thumb, if you're not sure about an item - recycle it. If it turns out to not be recyclable, it will be sorted out at the transfer station. Remember, keep an eye out for all plastic items numbered #1-#7, and recycle them! |
