Sealing the Cracks
|
|
On Thursday of this week, American Pavement Solutions began crack sealing work on several Village streets. Crack sealing work is done to keep water from permeating through existing cracks, causing further undermining of roads. Residents will see tissue paper placed over the recently sealed cracks. This is done to prevent vehicle tires from removing the new sealant prior to it drying.
For 2011, the following roads will be crack sealed:
- Fairy Chasm Road (from Port Washington east);
- W. County Line Road;
- Wakefield Court;
- N. Regent Road;
- E. Ellsworth Lane;
- Pelham Parkway;
- Broadmoor Road;
- Fairway Drive;
- Fairway Circle;
- Waverly Drive;
- E. Manor Cirlce.
All work is expected to be completed by September 23, weather permitting.

I Saw the Sign |
|
Looking for a little competition? How about finding the newly installed Emotionally Intelligent signs? That's right, if you can find all 12 of the emotionally intelligent signs, email Sarah Worthman with Patch.com. If you're one of the first three (3) people to find all of the new signs, you'll win a $10 gift card to Starbucks, courtesy of Patch.com. So, get out there and get searching - there are a total of twelve in the community.

ICMA Performance Measurement Award | | At this week's International City/County Management Association's annual conference in Milwaukee, the Village received the Certificate of Distinction for performance measurement. Bayside was honored with just eleven (11) other communities receiving the award.
The certificate program assesses a local government's performance management program and encourages analysis of results by comparing to peers and gauging performance over time. Performance management aids in cost reduction, program prioritization, and quality improvement. It also encourages accountability and transparency.

Starting to Shape Up |
|
WE Energies continues to work on the aging pole repair along Brown Deer Road and in the Pelham-Heath neighborhoods. As you'll notice when traveling along Brown Deer Road, crews are continuing to switch over cable from old poles to new poles. Once all infrastructure has been placed on the new poles, the old ones will be permanently removed.
Crews are working diligently to reduce the likelihood of outages, but the temporary placement of cables can make them vulnerable during severe weather. If you experience an outage, contact We Energies at 800-662-4797. |
Brush/Leaf Pickup |
|
Yard waste collection will resume next week. Please be sure to have all items curbside by 7am on the day of your scheduled pickup. Also, the Village will begin Fall loose leaf collection beginning Monday, October 17, running through Thanksgiving, weather permitting. Until then, you can put your leaves out with regular yard waste collection (in containers or biodegradable bags). Loose leaves will not be picked up with your yard waste.
Please remember to keep leaf piles out of the roadway. These piles cause safety issues for vehicles, pedestrians and bicycles alike. For exact dates of your yard waste and leaf collection, take a moment to view the remainder of the year's scheduled pickups. |
