Tip of the Week

Don't know what to do with your old cell phones and ink cartridges?  Drop them off at Village Hall Monday - Friday, 9 am - 4:30 pm, and we will safely dispose of them for you.

April 5 Election

Bayside had a 57.4% voter turnout in Tuesday's election.  Thanks to Lynn, Kayla, Cody and all of the poll workers for helping make the election run smoothly.  Full Bayside results are available on the Village's website.

In 2010 the Village recycling 546 tons.  For 2011, we are asking residents to recycle 650 tons, which equates to 800 pounds per household and 321 pounds per resident.  By recycling 650 tons, the Village will save $31,200 in tipping fees, which is $19.20 per household.

April 16 Clean-Up Day

Don't forget! The Village's Spring Clean-Up Day is next Saturday, April 16 from 9 am - 3 pm in  the Village Hall South Parking Lot.  For a list of services provided at the Clean-Up Day, visit the Village's website.  

 

If you will be participating the in Clean-Up Day, please remember your donation to Hunger Task Force.  The Village is asking residents to donate 3 non-perishable food items or a monetary donation to benefit Hunger Task Force.  

WE Energies Work Continues

As residents have likely noticed, the WE Energies is in the process of replacing several power poles throughout the Village.  The work is being done to replace aging poles, electrical lines and is part of the Bradley substation project.  The old poles will be reomved after the work is complete.  If you have questions about the project, please contact Todd Miller (414) 362-5148.

Village Assessment Info

Accurate Appraisal LLC , the assessors for the Village, will begin this year's assessment process on April 18.  Assessment letters were sent today notifying residents whose home will be inspected.   They are beginning the second year of a five-year cycle in a full value assessment process.  

 

A full value assessment means as attempt to keep all properties in the Village at 100% of market value.  The majority of the homes that will be visited are on the East side of the Village.  Additionally, Accurate Appraisal will be visiting any home that pulled a building permit last year.  If you have any questions, or to find out if your home will assessed, please contact Accurate Appraisal at 1-800-770-3927.

Consolidated Dispatch Services

The process towards consolidating dispatch services in the North Shore entered its final stages this week with Whitefish Bay's Village Board approving a contract that would bring the Tri-Comm Dispatch Center to Bayside.  The Tri-Comm Center in Whitefish Bay currently provides dispatch services for Whitefish Bay, Shorewood, and Glendale.  The  new consolidated center will provide dispatch services to Bayside, Fox Point, River Hills, Glendale, Shorewood, and Whitefish Bay.  Glendale will take up the contract on Monday, and Shorewood will follow on April 18.

 

What does consolidated dispatch mean for Bayside, Fox Point, River Hills, Glendale, Shorewood, and Whitefish Bay?

  • Service Level Improvements
    • Reduction or elimination of 911 call transfers;
    • Reduced response times;
    • Reduction of possible human/technology errors;
    • Quicker call processing times, resulting in faster on-scene times for emergency personnel;
    • Standardized training, management, enhanced communications;
  • Cost Savings
    • Elimination of redundant and expensive technology
  • Technological Advancements
    • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle increase in cellular based 911 calls;
    • Implementation of Next Generation 911 (text messaging, On-Star, etc)

Consolidating dispatch center will not only allow for improved services, it helps each involved community recognize a substantial cost savings.  

Do You Have Room?

This spring, the Village is looking to plant 75 - 100 new trees to help diversify the Village's tree population.  Are you willing to partner with the Village to help ensure healthy growth of some of the newly planted trees?  After Village crews plant the tree(s) in the right-of-way, we ask that homeowners water and maintain the new tree(s).  If you are interested in partnering with the Village, contact Alex Henderson.

Brown Deer Road Construction Continues

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is preparing to finish all Brown Deer Road bridge/I-43 construction work. The work that will be completed is along I-43, including the on-ramps, Brown Deer Road, and final landscaping.  All work is expected to be completed within four weeks, weather permitting.

This week the Plan Commission and the Board of Trustees approved four new businesses to operate in Bayside. 

  • Art Trooper, LLC a make-it-yourself art studio;
  • Motorsports-Exchange.com, LLC, a computer assembly and pack-and-ship business;
  • eManagement and Assistance LLC, an internet marketing firm;
  • Falcon Industrial, Inc, an industrial fluid sales and corporate office.
