Through eight total recycling pickups (January & February) in 2011, the Village collected 84.06 tons of recycling, compared to 61.94 tons during the same timeframe in 2010.  Thus far, the total recycling diversion rate is at 34% - keep up the good work!  For more info on residential recycling, visit the WI DNR website.

March Service Anniversaries

The Village would like to recognize staff celebrating service anniversaries during March.  Thank you for your commitment and dedication to the Village of Bayside and it's residents.

State Budget Proposal: Affects on Recycling

This week, Governor Walker introduced his budget proposal for the 2011 - 2013 Biennium.  Under the Governor's proposal, Bayside would lose approximately $40,000 per year in recycling funding.  Though the Village anticipates a loss in funding for recycling operations, we will continue to promote and encourage recycling in the Village to meet our 2011 goal of 650 tons.  Recycling not only keeps items from going into the landfill, but it also does not cost the Village to dispose of recycling.   Bayside has a long history and ordinance in place to maintain the existing recycling program. As the details of the budget proposal emerge, the Village will continue to monitor the potential impacts on Bayside.

News from Bayside PD

All Bayside Police Officers are trained Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), and as EMT's they receive specialized training on how to deal with individuals with medical, behavioral, developmental, learning, or mental health issues.  If you have a family member with special needs, please feel free to contact the Police Department should you wish to discuss with them your concerns in the event that officers come into contact with your family.  Please contact Lt. Tom Henkel for more information.

Summer Employment Opportunities

The Village is looking for summer laborers for the Department of Community and Utility Services.  Employment may begin as early as April 4.  The position performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in connection with the maintenance of Village grounds, parks, ball fields, green spaces, playgrounds and Village facilities. Applicants must be 18 or older, be a High School graduate or equivalent, and have a valid Wisconsin driver's license. 40 hours per week.  Applications are available on the Village's website, or at Village Hall. Positions are open until filled.

New To The Website

The Village continually updates the website to provide an active resource for residents. Recently, as part of our paperless packet transition, all committee packets and supplemental materials are now on the website.   Additionally, on the homepage we have added our Facebook interface.   The Village communicates with residents on Facebook everyday about events and happenings in the Village.  If you are not already a fan of the Village on Facebook, visit the Village's website and become a fan today!  In February, the website was visited over 2,373 times, and nearly 6,840 pages were viewed. Check it out today to find what is new!

February Building Permits

In February, the Village issued 28 building permits, bringing our YTD total to 59.  Though this is slightly down compared to February 2010. This can be attributed to not only the increase in permit fees, but also a number of larger projects undertaken in the Village, such as major renovations and additions.  If you would like to apply for a building permit, or if you would like more information about the Architectural Review process, please visit the Village's website.
