Correction: Bayside Recycling Guide
In January's issue of the Village Scene, the first two paragraphs of the Bayside Guide to Recycling on page 7 were published incorrectly. Please disregard the first two paragraphs of the recycling guide. All recyclable material can be comingled and placed in your container. For a complete list of acceptable and unacceptable items, please visit the Village's website. We apologize for any confusion.

Sled Hill Is Ready
Sled Hill 2

Bayside received nearly 5 inches of snow this week.  The sled hill just north of Village Hall is waiting for you!  If you use the sled hill, please park at the yard waste drop-off site.  You may enter the parking area off of Fairy Chasm Road.  The Police Department would linke to remind residents that they are prohibited from parking in the Police Department parking lot.  Enjoy the hill!

Property Tax Payments

If you have not already paid your property taxes, the first installment or the full amount is due by January 31.  Payments can be made at the M&I Bank lobby in Fox Point, or at Village Hall.  Residents who are eligible for a refund will receive one immediately if paid at M&I Bank.

To date, 8.27% of tax payments have been made at M&I Bank.  If you have any questions regarding property tax payments, please contact Village Hall.

Oil Absorbant Ban

As of January 1, 2011 oil absorbents and used oil filters are banned from landfills.  This ban applies to everyone in the state, including individuals, farmers, businesses, commercial or industrial facilities, and other organizations. The law does not exempt any groups or classes of individuals.  An exception is made in the ban to allow the disposal of up to one gallon of oil absorbent materials from a non-routine spill. A gallon of material is the amount that would fit inside a dry gallon container.

The Department of Natural Resources states recycling is the preferred method of disposing of these items and suggest residents contact businesses that perform oil changes or sell oil and oil filters as many of them will accept used filters.  For more information visit the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources website.
