This exchange was another brick in the wall cementing relations between Aboriginal people and China. Both sides of the trade mission are now busy working on details of financing the projects discussed.
A follow up trade mission is planned from Sunday October 23, 2001 to Saturday November 5, 2011. This intended to allow delegates attend the China Mining Conference & Expo 2011 in Tianjin from November 6-8, 2011 at the end of the trade mission.
The trade delegation represented a focused opportunity to further goals
of indigenous self-sufficiency, and has the potential to unleash enormous wealth for
future tribal development. Given the respective rise in China and Aboriginal nations
(and
the mutual Aboriginal/Sino interests), the

trade mission resulted in a good matching of projects and finance.
In Shanghai the delegation was hosted by top level Maori corporations and executives. A wonderful cultural exchange and business discussion ensued that culminated in the signing of Cooperation Agreement designed to promote ongoing business and cultural relations between Aboriginal Canadians and the New Zealand Maori.
Detailed plans are now afoot to organize a much larger trade mission from Sunday October 23, 2001 to Saturday November 5, 2011 to build on the momentum of this event. For further details of the Fall 2011 trade mission contact Tony Mayer at (604) 325-5995 or tomayer8@telus.net.
