Microsoft Word Tips Word logo

for Word 2007 and 2010
If you are creating documents that are more than a page or two in length, you will probably want to include page numbers so you can keep your document, when printed, in order. Word supports automatic numbering of pages in your document and you can control the type of page number, the starting number, and the placement of the page number. In addition, you can include page numbers in the headers and footers on your pages.

The easiest way to add page numbers is to use the Insert tab of the ribbon. In the Header & Footer group you'll notice the Page Number tool. When you click the tool you are presented with a variety of ways in which you can insert your page numbers.

These options are presented in several groups:

·Top of Page. The options in this grouping allow you to add a formatted page number to the top of each page (the header) in the current section.

·Bottom of Page. The options in this grouping allow you to add a formatted page number to the bottom of each page (the footer) in the current section.

·Page Margins. Adds a page number to either the left or right margin of the page.

·Current Position. Used to add a page number at the current location of the insertion point.

All told there are well over 100 different ways that you can insert formatted page numbers in your document. All you need to do is pick the one you want, and Word does the rest.

   MARKETING TIPS

Marketing can help increase sales for your business and is an important piece of the puzzle when it comes to increasing sales. However, there are certain strategies that businesses can use to bring in more customers.

Newsletters

Newsletters are an effective marketing strategy. Decide if you want to use an email or print newsletter, then begin collecting email addresses or mailing addresses from your customers and leads. Send a weekly newsletter from your business with related tips and deals. The key is to create content that your customers value, allowing you to build a trusting relationship with them. That way, when you offer special deals, the customer will be more likely to purchase from you.

Catalogs

Catalogs are also an effective marketing strategy for many businesses that sell products.  Catalogs allow your customers to understand exactly what products and services your company offers. Collect mailing addresses from your customers and store them in a database. Send your customers a catalog once a month or once per quarter. Track which customers are buying which products, and customize your marketing materials accordingly. For example, if several of your customers routinely purchase a particular product from your catalog, develop a special offer on your website and send a targeted mailing to these customers announcing the offer for those products.

Search Engine Marketing

Search engine marketing, or SEM, can help draw more customers to your website. SEM lets you find specific customers searching for the products you sell. First, identify several keywords or products your customers search for online. Use Google's free keyword tool to help you develop a list of keywords. Once you have your list, set up an account with Google, Bing or AOL, create an ad and bid on several keywords. If you bid high enough, your ad will appear on the page when someone uses those keywords. You pay the price of your bid only when someone clicks on the ad and visits your website.

Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing uses websites like Facebook and Twitter to market your computer products. Create a Facebook fan page that updates customers about special deals and discounts on your products. Develop a contest to get people to "like" your page by offering a free product to one person. Announce a special sale on Twitter. Use social media websites to stay continually connected with your customers.

Doing CEO's Newsletter is truly a labor of love.

Everyone in the office participates and contributes. Every article is weighted and analyzed to make sure it is relevant and current.   We are doing this because we want to make a difference by providing valuable information to our clients and our readers.  The information in each newsletter is meant to make  your digital life simpler and hopefully make you more productive.

We love your feedbacks and fortunately they all have been positive.  We hear that certain pieces were forwarded to friends or shared with co-workers.  Our client spotlight is my favorite.  In this economy any opportunity to promote our clients and their businesses  is a welcome sign for us.  We shall continue this bi-monthly newsletter and appreciate your support.  Let us know how we can make it better.

     What are QR Codes?

QR Code

Article from Wikipedia

A QR code (abbreviated from Quick Response code) is a specific matrix barcode (or two-dimensional code) that is readable by dedicated QR barcode readers and camera telephones. Scan the QR Code on the right to go to CEO Computers website.

The code consists of black modules arranged in a square pattern on a white background. The information encoded may be text, URL, or other data.

Common in Japan, where it was created by Toyota subsidiary Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional barcodes. The QR code was designed to allow its contents to be decoded at high speed.

QR codes may be used to display text to the user, to add a vCard contact to the user's device, to open a Uniform Resource Identifier (URI), or to compose an e-mail or text message. Users can generate and print their own QR codes for others to scan and use by visiting one of several paid and free QR code generating sites or apps. Natively scan QR codes and load any recognized Web URLs on the device's Web browser.

Custom/design QR codes and extreme QR codes are now beginning to emerge whereby brands are able to add their logos and designs with the traditional QR code. Web services are making it easier and cheaper for people to create and track QR code marketing campaigns.

GREEN TIPS

We have more statistics that should make us all re-think our paper usage and recycling habits.

recycle

According to The Public Recycling Officials of Pennsylvania, for every ton of paper that is recyled, the following are saved:

17 trees

275 pounds of sulfur

350 pounds of limestone

9,000 pounds of steam

60,000 gallons of water

225 kilowatt hours

3.3 cubic yards of landfill space

WOW!

And there's more...

*Energy used to recycle paper is close to 70% less than when paper is prepared using virgin wood and other raw material.

*Recycling 14 trees worth of paper reduces air pollutants by 165,142 tons.
