Marketing Tip

You can use stickers, stamps or short notes on all of your direct mail and everyday business mail. Keep in mind when you are putting a sticker, handwritten note or stamp on the outer side of cover, it has the impact of a mini billboard.

People read it but the note must be short and brief so it can be examine in less than 10 seconds.

Small business owners can host an event which is great way to gain face time with your key consumers and it also have great potential of your company name circulating. With the correct program, you will be pleased with a nice numbers and media exposure.

If it is discussion group with limited the audience then charge a fee. A fee gives the feeling of value. Free often connotes, whether intended or not, that attendees will have to endure a sales pitch.

Put in your leaflet, ad or flyer etc. in all your outgoing mail. It does not cost any extra postage and you will be astonished at who could use what you are offering.

How Do I Get  More Out of Outlook?

Add or Edit Color Categories in Outlook

In Outlook, you can use colors to organize all kinds of items - like email messages, contacts, or appointments.

The colorful categories make the messages or to-do items stand out and you can also create search folders that collect all items categorized in a certain manner.

Outlook comes with standard colors and appropriately named categories. It's easy to add your own categories or change the color and name of an existing label.

You can set keyboard shortcuts that either apply or remove categories from highlighted items.

To edit your list of color categories:

  • Go to your Outlook Inbox.

    • Colorcategories do not work in IMAP accounts. Make sure you go to your main (personal folders) Outlook Inbox.
  • Click the Categorize toolbar button.
  • Select All Categories... from the menu.
  • Highlight the desired category.

    • To change the category title, click Rename and type the new name in the Name list.
    • To choose a color, click the down arrow next under Color: and click the desired color (or None).
    • To assign the category a keyboard shortcut, click the Shortcut Key list and choose the desired keyboard combination.
    • To remove a category from the categories list (not from items it has been applied to previously), click Delete
  •

  • To add a new color category:

    • Click New.
    • Type the desired title under Name.
    • Click the down arrow under Color: and select the desired color.
    • Optionally, click the down arrow under Shortcut Key and choose the desired keyboard shortcut.
    • Click OK.

 Social Media and Marketing

Despite the rise of social media marketing, email marketing is still alive! If you want to optimize your email marketing and keep customers interested and buying, check out a few of the best practices to execute more effective email marketing. In one case, a business was able to increase their open rates by 32% and get a 29% increase in sales.

Integrate Email and Social Media

Social media marketing continues to skyrocket going into 2011. Instead of leveraging one medium over the other, use them together so they both can grow. Social media can be used to increase your subscriber base, generate leads so that you can later email and promote your products. Link to your social media accounts to increase your influence and reach.

Build a landing page

Creating a page especially designed for your email campaign can reduce barriers to conversion. It makes it hard for your customers to spend money with you if they can't order directly from the email. Send customers to a custom page designed to sell the product you promote. Your site's purchase funnel should encourage uptake of your target product while introducing complementary products.

Keep it Brief

Provide your targets with brief, concise content. Before you send anything make sure you have an objective and provide a clear call to action to accomplish that goal. Don't muddy up your messaging with too much content.

Leverage order confirmations

When your customers place an order, are you sending them a confirmation of their purchase? If not you are missing out on another opportunity to make a sale. Send automated emails after a purchase that does more than just inform them of their purchase. Try highlighting other products that might work well with that product to encourage more sales opportunities.

Be Mobile Friendly

More and more people read their email on their smartphones. Are your emails smartphone friendly? Here are some tips to make sure your customers can read your emails on the go courtesy of eCRMGuide:

  • Use a single-column layout
  • Put your logo and call to action at the top of your email
  • Use smart contrasts that read well on small screens. Black fonts on white backgrounds work best
  • Have a link at the very top of your message that allows subscribers to "view online" if their phone doesn't display your email correctly.

Get the timing right

The right time to send your email varies based on your customers. Do you have a lot of west coast customers? Don't send your email too early in the day when your customers are still sleeping. Do you offer services that need time to pack and ship? Send your email early in the week so your customers can get their order in on time. Experiment with the timing of your email until you find the sweet spot that works best for your business.
